Titan is home. He is wagging his tail and giving kisses. He is such a trooper. They put a drain in. They also stiched the bottom layer of skin and then stapled. They think it may open again but hopefully smaller. They did not charge for the overnight. They said the bill would have been the same monday. I explained my frustration to the vet and he was very good about it. I have a feeling this will end up being between him and the surgeon. I guess the surgeon gets paid out from them. So maybe we will get reimbursed, but I doubt it. I told them I felt the seroma was bound to happen that spot was always oozy since I have had him home. I told them I didn't think it was from his 25yd sprint. The other good news is his back rear leg definately seems better. So that is a huge relief!!!!

Thanks for all your support. Please pray this is our last speed bump.

Well that is progress guys, so glad to hear it. Happy that things worked out better than expected with the vet.

You have our prayers. Keep us posted, and take it easy, sprinter!

Love,

Jerry

We are just trying to take it one day at a time. The vet is going to check the drain Friday. That spot still looks oozy and it could easily open I am just praying it will heal this time. I am trying to get him to lay down on his side with the 2 legs. He likes to curl up in a ball but that is where that area is. I think his curling in a ball makes the fluid gather there. It is where I would say the leg was (that was ampuated) closest to his stomach. They did a cbc test and that was normal. They put him on another antibiotic just in case for infection.

On another note I noticed Titan's seroma didn't look like the typical seroma . His whole shoulder after it burst looked swollen but nothing was really protruding out to make you say "that's not right." Just a tip for big breed owners whose dogs have bigger shoulder and rear muscles.

Great to hear he is home and that the vet did right by you.  The tail wags and kisses are an awesome sign.

Titan has a big heart and a great attitude.  He'll be healing in no time.

Titan has been resting alot and not really eating. It is probably the meds. There is still a little hole where the seroma burst but it is smaller than the other day. Hey Jerry what happened to the Butch topic is it under a different forum?  I also have pics of Titan's seroma  I have been taking to watch the progress. Let me know if you ever want them in case someone runs into the same issue. I thought it would have looked alot different then how gruesome it can look.

Heii,

I'm sure it's the meds. Glad to hear the seroma is looking better. Sounds nasty! Eeeew! I do think that if you want to post the photos, that would be great. I don't know if I can look at 'em, but they could come in handy. Why not post them in the Treatment & Recovery forum?

We haven't moved the Butch topic. His human hasn't posted anything new though 🙁  Hope to hear something soon.

I hope that means no news is good news. I am going to try to get a better picture of his seroma today. I need it a little darker out so the flash will work better. I will definately post them. I panicked when it first burst because I thought it was pretty big.

Eeeeeew!

Aren't dogs awesome? They're not even bothered by stuff like this.

Ok, we really do think that photos would help. So many people have questions about seromas. Thanks for taking the time to post them.

Titan's whole shoulder was swollen so I didn't think that was a seroma . Thought it would been like a ball size/shape or something that stuck out. I checked out alot of pics and videos Jerry and I must say you are an amazing dog. You can tell you are really enjoying life.

You betcha! Not bad for a dog that was given a 4 month prognosis, eh?

Give Titan our love and speedy recovery wishes.

Titan got the drain out today. So we have slow but steady progress. If he doesn't eat by tomorrow they are going to take him off baytrill and he will stay on his other meds. I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

There is still an opening we are watching but I think until that areas is completely dry or drained we are just going to watch it. He comes back Tuesday for a check up. He is still not eating his food so I stopped that 1 med.

Hmmm....have you tried giving him some tempting treats with it? Peanut butter? Cheese? Cream cheese? Scrambled eggs?

Glad to hear he's tail waggin' though, that's always a good sign.

Jerry you are so smart. I made 2 scrambled eggs and mixed in Titan's food. He ate the whole thing. He seems more alert today so I am glad we stopped that one med. He has been walking on his back legs like he is a little drunk. So I am hoping that will get better as well. I am also hoping he will want to get up more he has been pretty much standing up a few times but not wanting to really go or do anything (thank god no more 25 yd dashes). Slowly we are getting there. I think that spot has dried out so I am hoping they can restaple that area(about 4 staples) so then we can really be on our way.

Next we have to order the harness. I saw the ruffwear master harness http://www.back.....mv_pc=r126 why is it so cheap do you really think it is the same one you offer.
