…what can be had here on this tiny island, but anything beyond basic veterinary care is probably not going to be possible. I'm not sure how to help phantom limb pain or if it even IS phantom limb pain. It's hard to get a video because it's completely and totally unpredictable, with the yelping only lasting a few
…want to let your vet get a urine sample to make sure she doesn't have an infection.
Huckleberry did not walk backwards, but he did experience phantom limb pain for a short period after his surgery.
She is still very early in recovery, and although gabapentin is fantastic for phantom limb and nerve pain

…now at 4 months I notice him suddenly flip over about 2x a week. We didn't end up changing his meds or anything because everything I could find on phantom limb pain in cats showed very limited success and that for the vast majority of cases the episodes went away on their own within a couple of months anyways.

…the video, but did the amputation leave a "stump" or part of the leg, or is the amputation the full leg?
There is something we see here called phantom limb pain, or phantom pain. Basicaal, It's sort of when the brain is still firing off signals to the nerves in a leg that is no longer there. The pain
…. We got another prescription for gabapentin, and gave it to him regularly for a few weeks. After that we dropped the dose a bit at a time, and the phantom limb pain went away.
The best way to describe it, is that he would be in the middle of doing something, say playing with one of his new brothers or walking
…Alissa, Good luck to Amber. My cat Gizmo is also recovering from surgery Day 9 post op. Thanks for the questions I was also just wondering about phantom limb pain.
