So happy to hear jow well Scott is doing.  This made me smile

He LOVES chasing the laser pointer and cuddling in the mornings. He is back to being a sweet purr machine.

And ditto everything  Jerry said about the paw.  The gait can change things up a bit, but it doesn't  make sense to wait until he's in pain to address it.

Yay Scott! I'm so glad to hear he's feeling better, and it sounds like you are too! For an older cat, it's so great that he's playing with the laser pointer. Also having a little purr machine back is the BEST! You've done such a good job taking care of him.

Senior trikitty Luanne had a right forepaw removed in May of 2022 and is still going strong! Here's our story.

Hi all!

So we figured out what was going on with that weird toe situation --- it is the same as the others. Like the nail got ripped out somehow? and the blood was sticking the fur together. We cleaned it out and it is healing. He is much happier now and doesn't have pain when scratching himself.

Now I wonder how this happened. This was never a problem until he went to our vet to get his sutures redone. A part of me wonders if it happened there. I have never seen him chew his nails. Licking? yes - but obsessively chewing at them? No. and we watched him like a hawk for about 1.5 months. It makes me very nervous about what happened when he stayed the night at the vets.

Unfortunately, I live in a really rural area and I think there is no feline specialist unless it's an hour away. 🙁 I will look this up though.

Yesterday and the day before he was galloping around the house, initiating chases with his brother. It makes my heart happy to see them playing again.

Oh I'm so glad you were able to find out why he was having that problem. Whew! Scott is good at scaring all of us!

Here's a link to the Cat Friendly Clinic Directory, I hope you're able to find one nearby:

Hi all! It has been almost a month since my last post I think. Scott is doing amazingly well!

He goes up and down stairs like a pro. Honestly, I thought he was going to have a lot of issues with them, but he uses stairs better than walking.

Scott is still getting used to have three legs, sometimes he still gets frusterated when not being able to do something like he could previously. He has started going back out into his catio, but I think it is difficult for him to get on the ground, so we have to add an additional step or two.

He is still on 50mg Gaba 2x per day. We are hoping to go down to 25mg next weekend.

Scott enjoys: walking underneath our feet when we try to go somewhere, waking us up at night to cuddle and purr, chasing his brother, and sleeping

Scott does not enjoy: watching his caloric intake (me too, bud, me too). Now that he is very mobile and will chase a laser around, we are working on him dropping weight so there is not much strain on his joints!

I hope this community is doing well and as always, thank you again for all the love and support. It has been a ride.

Wonderful that he's handling steps like a Champ👍  And yes, exercising  chasing the laser ahould help trim him down.

Aww it's so great to hear from you, and know that Scott is doing so well. You've both survived the ride and lived to tell about it, be proud!

Good job on the activity and weight focus, it makes such a difference for a Tripawd.

Let us know how the pain med reduction works out. We will keep paws and fingers crossed!
