After being found injured and alone on a Texas roadside, Jackpot received the care he needed before making an incredible cross-country journey to his furever home in New Jersey.
Today, this affectionate little Tripawd enjoys cuddling, soaking up the sunshine, and charming everyone he meets. His journey is a pawsome example of resilience and the incredible difference a loving home can make!

How old is your Tripawd?

When and why did your Tripawd lose a leg?
He was found on the side of the road November 2022 in Texas with a severely injured front leg. He was dragging it around so much and had such a bad road rash that they felt the best course of action was to amputate the full leg and shoulder. He also dealt with some scratches, cuts and a dead tooth but was taken in by his foster mom through North Star Pet Rescue to recover.
After a few months of recovery, JP was ready to join his forever home in New Jersey. It took 23 different divers over the course of 3 days but he made it safe in March of 2023 and has been getting all the love since.
He is such an affectionate, cuddly boy and needs attention from anyone he can. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him instantly.
How did your Tripawd adapt to life on three? Did the reality match your expectations?
So smooth!! It’s like he’s been a tripod his whole life. he occasionally falls but otherwise he does it all and with ease!
What are your Tripawd’s favorite things to do?
cuddle, eat anything and everything, tan in the sun, beg for attention
What is the biggest lesson you learned from your Tripawd so far?
tripods are just as capeable as any other 4 legged dog. they are truly do resilient. it’s impressive to watch.
What is your best advice to someone who is about to go through amputation with their pet, or someone who is thinking of adopting a Tripawd?
give them extra love but know that they are still so happy and able to do everything the exact same. don’t be afraid to accommodate when needed but you’ll be surprised how quickly they adapt!
