I'm glad you called the vet, it's always a smart thing to do at a time like this. From what you are describing everything sounds pretty typical. As for her being wonky and tired, well that's to be expected. It will take her time to build stamina and strength, so even little things like walking to get a drink of water or eat are going to be challenging. But she will get to a new normal where it's not so exhausting. As for her bruising, that's normal sounding too. It may change colors a bit as bruises do, but as long as it doesn't start turning scary dark brown coloring, it's probably just fine. Check out our photo gallery for some examples.

Hope you have a restful sleep tonight. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you all for the reassuring words. She is acting normally and eating and drinking fine. I had to work today so my fiancé stayed home with her. He just let me know that she pooped when he took her out! Never thought I would be so excited for her to poop Haha! We changed the "shirt" she was wearing. The vet used a piece of one of those white fabric medical sleeves and cut an arm hole in it. She had it on for two days so we changed it this am. It was not stretched out enough apparently. My fiancé just texted me saying that there is a tiny spot of blood on the "shirt". He said it isn't actively bleeding, its just a tiny dried spot. This was just after we changed the shirt, before she was up and about. Im assuming it was a little tight and tugged on her incision when we put it on her. He's keeping a close eye on it. He took her out to bathroom and then she ate brkfst after and he said there is no new blood so that's good. We didn't sleep so well last night again, we wake with every sound and movement. Hopefully it gets easier as time goes on. Im just an anxious wreck. Im an anxious person in general but all of this stress and change has really made me so much more anxious. So I tend to over react to even small things. It's difficult but we'll get thru this. Thank you all for taking the time to read and respond. It really means so much to me and is incredibly reassuring! Hope everyone is having a good day!! I'll try to upload photos if I can figure it out lol

Yeah, it's easy not to panic over every little thing.

.Doris sounds like she's doing extraordinarily  well!  Eating, drinking, peeing and pooping!!! YAAAAAAY.  We love to celebrate poopicon around here!

A little drop of blood should not be a concern at all.  Obvioisly  if it continues snd starts to seep out a .lot, you can send a picture to your Vet.

Keeping a strong confident  energy around sweet Doris helps her heal...helps her know everything  is alright.  Dogs teach us so ,any valuable .ofe   lessons on this journey.   Follow Doris's lead.  She's  not worried about a thing.  She's  living  in the moment, in the now, in the present.   Read the book Be More Dog , Jerry's story .  It will help uou stay centered and grpunded Iin  the present.

Made my day to heat how well Doris is doing!!!   Sloooow and easy....she's got this....and so do you!

Hugs

I love the way you two are tag-teaming with her care. She is so loved!

The little drop of blood doesn't sound concerning. If there is some fluid leakage that is normal, it's called a seroma . If the fluid is more watery than bloody, it's just the body's way of letting go of excess fluid from her leg. Let your doc know if she develops one, they're usually not serious but sometimes require draining in the office.

It's hard to keep your mind on things right now, I totally get that. Try your best to stay strong, and picture the day when her stitches are removed. You will be so excited and so will she!

Glad the poopicon happened, that really is a great sign. Many dogs take longer to have a movement. She's doing great. smiley_clap

How does her incision look? It's more red today than it was yesterday. Not by a lot but its noticeable. Full shot and close up attached.

She's adorable!! She looks like a love bug to me.

I think the redness is bruising which is common. My kitty had that and I was getting fussy about it so kept putting cool compresses on her and she loved that.

You and your fiance are doing great!

For now! Adorable...

Those image links will work, as long as the privacy settings for the photo are Public. However, Facebook static content URLs like that (e.g.; scontent.fb... etc.) will eventually change and the images will disappear. This is why we offer free Tripawds Blogs . smiley16

Thank you for proving that theory wrong! smiley16 The photoss are publicly visible via the image URL.

Do you know how long they'll stay up?

There is no telling with the Faceborg...we have only noticed various older posts throughout the years with photos not displaying due to broken image "scontent.fb..." and "fbcdn..."links.
