October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014

OurΒ story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Wheeee! Did you guys see Manni’s blog post? He was in the news recently because he competed in a Doggy Special Olympics in Germany and really kicked some butt!

Way to go Tina and Manni, you are the best ambassadors!

The original article is in German of course but here is the Google translation:

Here’s a link to my piece in today’s Guardian about the Virginia Tripawds Pawty. On reading it, I am struck by how surface it seems, not only because it was cut (which it was, substantially) but also because it’s just impossible to capture in 2000 words the richness and diversity of what this community offers. I could easily have written an article (okay, a book) on any single one of you and it’s hard to see people I talked to for hours represented by a single line quote, or, even worse, not portrayed at all. I’m afraid that is really the nature of the game, but it does leave me feeling a touch regretful. (I particularly regret the lack on info on cat amputation). I apologise if there are things you feel are important which aren’t included here (and there certainly are). At the very least, I hope the piece will help to spread the word about Tripawds and bring more people to the site, where they will be able to discover this magical community for themselves.
