And while you're getting to know our friend Anke of Soul Touched by Dogs, you can also get to know our good friend TC, mom to the Tripawds Legend Calpurnia the Sled Dog, and currently mom to BP, another sled dog living the good life in retirement. She was also a guest of the show recently. You will love learning about what it's like to be a sled dog mom.

The Wildest: Meet This Inspiring Online Community of Parents to Three-Legged Pets

by Michele C. Hollow
April 8, 2024

In February, two weeks after he returned to his old seat as a host on The Daily Show, comedian Jon Stewart shared that his dog, Dipper, a three-legged Brindle Pit Bull, had died. He didn't get far into his monologue about Dipper, who had lost his right leg after being hit by a car as a puppy, before Stewart began to visibly tear up. (The internet also collectively wept.)

“In a world of good boys, he was the best,” Stewart said about Dipper, whom Stewart’s family adopted from New York City rescue Animal Haven 12 years ago. He concluded with this sweet message: “Boy, my wish for you is one day you find that dog, that one dog that just…it’s the best.”

Oh yeah the Jon Stewart video, sooooo beautiful!

Yes we've gotten a lot of coverage this year, and overall, three-legged dogs are in the media a LOT. This is a huge change from where we started in 2006, and it makes us happy to know that they are seen by much of the public in a new light these days. And that is of course thanks to the involvement of people like YOU in this community of crazy pet parents! smiley2
