Dear Mom and Dad:
On October 3, 2008, the angels invited me to a party at the Rainbow Bridge. My friends Finnegan and Lalla were waiting there and although I was sad to leave you behind, I knew you would be OK. After all, in the ten years we roamed, I had taught you everything I was supposed to and for the most part, you got it!
A dog's time is short, but we live and love so well when we are alive. . . that was my biggest lesson and my greatest gift to you; to always remember to live and love every single day! I know sometimes you forget it because humans can be so serious, but I'm happy to see that even when times are ruff you still do your best to follow my teachings. Thank you.
Today on my six year angelversary, please do not be sad OK? We had such good times, nothing can take that away. Take time to paws and reflect on what I taught you. And do me one more favor OK? You too everypawdy! If you haven't already seen it, set aside just one hour and watch this TV show I was in, "Why We Love Cats and Dogs." It's a cool flick that shows why animals are such incredible teachers. I promise you'll love it.
Yours forever from the Rainbow Bridge,
Jerry

Okay Jerry, you do remember we are imperfect humans and we're gonna still be a little sad....but we'll try really hard to honor your wishes! All we have to do is look at that first picture and we can jump right back into "living and loving so well" lesson you taught us.
I remember watching that TV doumentary before I ever had the pleasure of knowing anything about you or your humans!! I remember thinking how delighted I was to know others "understood" the depth of lpve and connection for our animal companions. I just didn't realize at the time, I, like thousands snd thousands of others, would become part of your extended family and benefit from your legacy.
Jerry, we could never find the words to thank you enough for coming to this earth and enlighten our souls on so many levels. It was an assignment you eagerly signed up for without hesitation. You knew EXACTLY what your mission would be and you knew EXACTLY which humans you would select to help you continue to carry out your mission long after you transitioned.
As you have taught us over and over, this Tripawd University you created for us, isn't "just" about amputation and disease, no siree, it is chock full of lessons presented to us for our soul's growth.
I was getting ready to say thank you for your "courage"...and we do thank you for that. But I don't think you ever saw it that way.....you just saw it as what "Beings of Light" do!! Yes, you showed us how to love well and love well sweet boy.
I think we need to petition the Webster Dictionary people to redefine the defintion of LOVE.....it should simply read......DOG ...
In the next day or so, I shall fix a bowl of popcorn, have Merry Myrtle by my side and Happy Hannah in my heart, and we shall watch this wonderful "movie". Or, as we "tripawd people" would refer to it....."The Legacy of Jerry! A Documentary of Love and Elightenment"!
We celebrate and salute you Jerry, Jim and Rene!
With a grateful heart,
Sally and My Eternal Light Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
YO! Jerry! You sure did pick some cute humans to help carry out your mission! Look at those SMILES! They light up the Universe! And yeah, yours too! I love how Rene is gracefully pointing her toes in her hiking boots to reach the "floor".......just like a little Ballerina!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Crying happy tears here, thank you from the bottom of our hearts Sally, your eloquence knows no limits. Beautiful! {{{{hugs}}}}

Just finished watching it, what a beautiful documentary. That moment when you were at the vet and they showed you the tumors on Jerry's x-ray my eyes just swelled up with tears. I saw Jerry sitting there, staring up at his momma (paying no attention to that x-ray) and then when his daddy asks if he's ready to go, he jumps up like "yeah man lets blow this joint". That just tugged at my heart strings. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
Mom to Tripawd Angels Jake (2001-2014) and Rosco (2012-2015) and Tripawd Tanner. “Whatever happens tomorrow, we had today; and I'll always remember it”
Again Jerry, thank you for being you! Thank you for your lessons and thank you for sharing your humans with us all. They are very important to us here. You already know that though. I too, plan to grab a snack and my pack and sit down to watch your movie. Love from, Lori and TY

She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
Jerry,
It is hard not to be a little sad today. A great baby has left behind a wonderful legacy though. Without what you taught your mom & dad we wouldn't all be here today to help celebrate you and your angelversary. I personally thank you for all you have done. Sassy and I learned a lot on our journey. I hope all of you Warriors up there are celebrating together today.
Hugs

Jerry I have no words. I knew what today was and when I made Jill's appointment and they told me they had one available on 10/3 I grabbed it up. Because you are our guardian angel, this whole community's guardian angel. I know that's a BIG JOB for one doggy - but if anyone is up to that task, it's you.
What you left behind in this world is impossible to put into words. Your legacy is something that will live on for eons and you have singlehandly (ok with some help from your pawrents) saved the lives or at the least eased the pain of probably thousands of dogs (and a handful of kittys now too!
We love you Jerry.
Erica & Jill

I can't wait to watch this.
Happy Angelversary to Jerry and big hugs to Rene and Jim for keeping his spirit alive and for helping so many thousands of other precious pets and their humans. What a legacy and what a gift!
Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.
So I just took the time to sit down with my pack and watch that amazing video. As Jerry came on the screen I couldn't help but smile, Domino jumped up in my lap, Finn began to talk to me and Bounder laid across my feet. We watched as Jerry played and barked and really lived life to the fullest. I cried, and the puppers tried to distract me by wagging tails and tugging on blankets. Without Jerry I honestly don't know if Domino would be here, if I could have made the journey without the love and support from all the amazing people on this website. So hats off to Jerry, you were an amazing dog and best friend, and continue to be the best Guardian Angel any person or pup could ask for. And I have to thank you for that. Rene and Jim, I want you two to know that you are live savers, and truly amazing people. And thank you for sharing Jerry's story and legacy with all of us here. Its an honor to be a part of the extended Tripawds family and pack

Domino had his left front leg amputate on May 13th 2014 after being hit by a car. He's now living a happy healthy life on three legs :)
