Gonna try and piece together Some of the emails in the last 24 hrs the Rehab sent me.  She is going to call me sometime Monday with a POSSIBLE time to see us in the next day or so.   I'm  also going to call  my refular Vet and see if I can get him in Monday afternoon  if I don't  here from her.  Dont ask me why, but I just feel strongly  that  she can evaluate  him wothnher expertise without having to try and haul his two-legged butt in the car for a long drive,  do xray, etc.  CERTAINLY  will do whatever diagnostics  necessary

One reason her sxhedulemis so tight, she's a fill in Vet for a couple of different Bets and has made commitments to them the past several weeks, and the upcoming weeks.  That, plus her Rehab business, plus any trip out here is basically  two hours total of drive time.

Goodness knows though, she certainly  has some good guaranteed income, as many of you know😙

Oh.....here are some of her email points!  And she DOES have some  ore Video of Franlie as his "condition" worsened.....different a goes, positions , etc. So,tjat, along with his history, the high likelihood  of meniscus appearing after tjese surgeries, etc, that's  why she  are her observations .

While meniscal tear and arthritis are likely, there are other possibilities which would include muscle/tendon injury, infection (not common esp at this stage but is possible) and breakdown of surgical scar tissue to point of instability (less likely at this stage).  If it’s a meniscal tear and just aggravation/stretching of scar tissue or muscle/tendon, then manipulation can be done to try to fold the cartilage back into place.  It’s 50-50 on working and may take a few visits.  If it doesn’t work, then surgery is needed.  The other injuries will simply take time and supportive rehab to heal, basically like stepping back to where we were in mid January.

If there is full instability it can still stabilize over 3-4 months without surgery but will have much more arthritis than with surgery. Surgery would regain mobility faster.  And infection would require intensive antibiotics.

don’t know that there is a right or wrong decision on who should evaluate Frankie in your situation—just pro’s and cons to each option:

  1. Surgery specialist (like VRCC or VVSA) of course is ideal since they have the greatest resources and expertise, and especially if you think surgery is a financial option, but surgery runs around $3000-$4000 if it is needed, and the evaluations, rads, mri, us or whatever diagnostics they decide upon are more expensive. Also you will have to take Frankie in.  They may take a little longer than regular vet to get scheduled.
  2. Your regular vet can definitely do evaluation, it would be less expensive than surgical specialist or me,  they can likely see you faster, and they can do xrays and joint taps if they feel it is needed. What they can’t do is more extensive testing, physical therapy techniques like manipulation to test meniscal cartilage and to get meniscal cartilage in place, but could do laser. They may or may not be able to do surgery if needed. Also you’d have to take frankie to them.
  3. I can evaluate, but I’m not certain if I can make it out there faster.  I will re-evaluate my schedule and let you know by Monday. It’s unlikely that I will have help if I come before may 15th so it would be strictly evaluation, massage, manipulation, and laser.  I can’t do diagnostic tests other than hands on evaluation.

My recommendation: if by Monday I cannot guarantee making it out there faster (or if you want diagnostic test capability or need to save money) would be to have your regular vet evaluate him to make sure it’s not something more serious requiring more than rehab

Okay....me....Sally again.   I looooove the idea of PRP (PRT.?).....and maybe a brace....

Petra.....that plasma stuff spunds like something  I'd like to try for my bone on bone knees .....and torn Achilles. ...and shoilder.....and feet.....okay, you get the point!!!  Blind Nurse Myrtle  may have her paws full taking care of us!!🤣🤣

AND loading him up on Tram and Gaba and Rimadyl(I do want to be cautious with that though) He's hurting, so I keep tweaking.  We'll get it right.

O,ay.....you've  heard enough from this end to bore you silly!    IF you don't  near from me tomorrow, its  because so couldn't  get into regular Bet.pretty sure that'll work me in if at all possible.

With all my heart,I love and appreciate you all, more than I xould EVER express!!..i know each of you are going through your own challenges.  To  make time to support us like you jave just blows my mknd.....and fills my jeart💖💖💖💖💖💖

Hi Sally,

No doubt she can do the evaluation without you lugging him across town. There's a test they do with the knee, they can feel it without xraying and know if it's torn.

Flying home tomorrow night, will keep you all in my prayers.

Big hugs

Xoxoxox

YAY!!!!   Okay, she's  coming Tuesday morning at 9:30 .  Squeezing me in so it'll be quick.   At least it's  a starting point!!   Guesing he may still need xrays.

The not-so-great-condition  of his other two legs is more apparent now  as he tries to compensate.  It's  clear everything that has happened in his wild and crazy life has taken a toll on him.

We'll see what new adventures await is tomorrow! Yippee flippin' skippee🤣

Will update as soon as possible.

Love to you all❤

OK that explanation makes sense Sally, thank you for sharing her convo with you. Many dizzying options but right now it sounds like a good plan to wait for her eval and take it from there. I'm thrilled you get to see her on TRIPAWD TUESDAY! That's got to be a good sign right? YES! Please keep us posted. xoxo

And yet another update!   Just got another email  from Dr Wheedle.   She espressed rwo concerns (the second  concern was about getting him safely in and  out of car)

........

One is that he is so painful that he’s not getting up and  more that he’s biting his leg.  I’ve never seen a dog bite his leg with meniscal injury, and I’m getting more suspicious that there is infection or the crimp used to hold the suture in place is loose (which would require removal but not necessarily replacement). So I’m starting to think that there is a high likelihood that he will need rads and a joint tap.  However, we can’t be certain of this until examined.

 ..........

Her other concern about getting  him  nto he car was because  I've  gone ahead and set up an appt with regular  Bet immediately  after we're  done.  I knew we were headed yowards an xray, so regular Vet is squeezing  him in .She did the surgery.

Of course, until the  two appoinments are done,, everything is just guessing.

So, let's  hope TRIPAWD TUESDAY  has some magical powers 😎😎😎

Lots of love to all!
