Thanks Dawg. That means a lot to the Tripawds pack.

Pretty cool to think you were playing in the snow like this with us earlier today, four years and seven months to the date I went on to the Rainbow Bridge. Not that anyone is counting or anything.

Every morning, while I'm driving to work -  I say a prayer to God above and then I yell a "i love and miss u sweetpea" - I think when people see my mouth moving in the car by myself - they think I have blue toothbig-grin

Yesterday made it 6 months since I let Dakota go. It sounds so easy, to let something go. But how could I not?

I thought things were better. I actually anticipated this milestone of sorts for over a month and thought that it would be a relief to be at 6 months. Surely at that time I would feel better about this. Then yesterday arrived and I thought I would come here and write about it, note it, and then get on with my life. Writing about it would be like closing the door on the empty aspects of "life without Dakota" and...and what? I couldn't write anything yesterday. I couldn't even come to the site.

Nothing's changed. He's still gone. I'm still angry. Let's see what July brings.

Dakota, if you know anything about what I'm feeling, then you know how sorry I am that you got shafted. I'm not nearly as sorry that you are gone as I am that your start was so shitty. I wish I'd found you sooner and saved you months of misery. I am grateful you walked down the road when we came by. I wouldn't have missed having you for the world.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Dakota's "crappy start" was sort a like his amputation.....he had to endure the pain of recovery in order to get to the blissful, pain free aspect of his life. He. ever even remember ed what life was li,e on three legs and could care less. If his bad start was what it took to get to you, he was fine e with that. All those struggles gave him the fortitude he needed to stay strong some could have the most splendid time of his life with you........

.....woofing down Whoopers! You did share, right!

Dakota Dawg brought you to this site. This site is a better place because you are here. Thanks Dakota!

We are all here for you Shari. We understand as best anyone can.

Saluting you and Dakota for a job well do e and a legacy that has no end,

Sallh and Happy Hannah

Shari, I don't think we ever truly close the door, it's always there just slightly open enough to bring on tears when you least expect them. Six months or six years, true love like that is always a powerful force.

One day at a time, that's all anyone can do.

Many hugs coming to you today and always. You had one special dog there, it was truly an honor to have been able to meet him.

Shari,

I don't really have the eloquent words to write here.  I know how much you loved Dakota and you gave that guy the greatest greatest life.  I know you get angry about the start he got, but you gave him such a great gift once you found him and he found you.

You and Dakota have forever left a mark on this website, if that gives you any comfort at all.  You have been an incredibly important part of our journey, and I only wish I could provide some comfort to you in return.

Dakota is always with you.  I am sending you lots of hugs and love.

Shari,

My heart aches for you. But, no matter Dakota's shitty start and your understandable outrage at how he was treated, I know Dakota loved his life with you — perhaps all the more for knowing that not all humans can love the way you do.

The experiences and love you shared will never leave your heart. So, while I understand your ongoing grief and anger — because I still feel those emotions, too — I also know that the joy we experienced with our babies far, far, outweighs the loss. Your life was so much better for having known Dakota and he was extraordinarily blessed to have crossed your path.

Many hugs, my friend.

Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.

We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.

Jerry, I was thinking of you today 'cause it's the 3rd. My people say that you got your wings on the 3rd of the month, so they always say "It's Jerry Day" when the 3rd rolls around. Now I know.

I hear you were a pawty animal. I hope someday I will have as many friends as you. Keep on keepin' on dude, you're my hero.

Four years and ten months ago today was a sad day for the Tripawds Nation.

Today we celebrate the life of Jerry, our founder and Chief Fun Officer.

Thank you Dawg. Without you, this community would not exist to help so many others going down the road we traveled.
