Sally and Jerry,

Thanks for your kind words of support, and Sally, the thought of visiting you with my crazy girls made my heart smile !! Fortunately, we are about 40 minutes north, and away from the violence that broke out yesterday....just very sad to see the destructive behavior for the second time in my lifetime here, in this really great city, and it is above all, a fabulous city. I grew up very close to Baltimore City, and spent most of my life there, so this is hard to witness. It has definitely settled down today, and so hoping it stays that way......

And Sally, I am very much hoping M.M.'s ankle gets better very soon.

Much love to all....
Bonnie, Angel Polly, and new crew

So it's been about 90 days since Miss Merry Myrtle Mae went on her four hour adventure in the "wild" a d came back with a very swollen and.limpy leg.

She shows NO sign of a limp and seems to walk just fine. I took jer in the other day because I'm still concerned about the "swelling"around the hock (?).

The vet said its scar tissue and that's what has stabilized the...the whatever...ligament...tendon...something! He "wiggled" that area and was pleased that there was no real movement like he felt before. Everything feels "hard"...no fluidity at all.

She's getting along great so I know there's nothing to worry about.....well...except...why does it still look the way it does? It's her left leg...it lrotrudes a little on the left side and protrudes a little more than the other leg in the back of the hock.

AND.....how is Mr. Julian???? The antibiotics did the trick on his swollen leg? No more recurrence?

Oh! Did you see this post on Monbo WITH Tazsie's video??? Nice! Very, very nice! That Tazzie just keeps on touching lives...with a little hell from her beloved human!!

As always, thank yoh so much for all you do here! You TRULY are a gift!

LOVE!

I'm glad Myrtle doesn't appear to be having any pain!  I do see what you mean by the left side looking bigger than the right but I'm totally clueless on any possible suggestions...way-confused

I guess if the vet isn't worried then that's a good sign.

Hey, Merry Myrtle. You just have to quit scaring your Momma! If the vet thinks it would still benefit her to ice the spot, you might try that, Sally. Otherwise I would just keep a photo reference file so you can tell whether things look the same or different. Sometimes our "rememberies" tend to get skewed over time.

Thanks, too, for posting the link. It was fun to see the video again.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

I agree that it is probably just scar tissue most likely due to injury to the Achilles tendon.  I would maybe do some follow-up xrays once or twice a year to check for arthritis just in case there was any undetected joint damage and I would probably continue some sort of glucosamine treatment long term  Julian takes the Dasuquin chews but there are many other good brands.

Julian is all skinny and handsome now.  His leg is fine but I diagnosed him with an underactive thyroid and now that he takes thyroid pills he has lost 20 pounds and is much more active.  Also no urine crystals so life is good!

I am glad that Christina shared Monbo's story because he has done so well and is super sweet.

She is looking good Sally, don't go imagining things where there is none.  I know its hard not to do but I agree with Dr Pam just get x-rays to check on arthritis.  All the dogs are getting supplements although Bosch is the only one with Dasaquin right now.

Sally... I'm with Michelle and the others... don't borrow trouble but do keep photos to compare as time goes by. ... I am guilty of over-worrying where in the past I never worried! God, Shelby lived such a life w/out a mom who worried about everything. I am convinced Jasper has or will have hip dysplasia... my vet thinks I am crazy but I swear she runs like the dr. google says a dog with hip issues does!!!

So I let her 'be a dog' since she doesn't act in pain and seems happy enough... I am sure myrtle is just fantastic!!!! She looks amazing!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

I'm a major worry-wart since Harmony. And I have to have these "Come to Jesus" meetings with myself to control these, gotta go to the vet, I think she's limping anxiety feelings. Good-gravy, if you only knew how big my chill-pill was. Also remember, we create that which we fear.

So, like the others say, relax, stay-centered and turn that "worry" time into "loving" time.

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

Pam

I LOVE how you worded our "fears".  I will have to keep this in my mind when I start to worry about Lucian.
