Rats!!!!  🙁  You sure didn't need another day to worry.  Good thoughts and prayers continue that this will not be anything serious and will be easily treatable.  Maybe today could be Starbucks and PetCo a day early.

We're home! All tuckered out after a trip to the vet, then Petco, then ...finally....PUPPY LATTE !!!

Because the "episodes" seem to be becoming less frequent, as long as I try and contain her activity (no horsing around with Frankie, no jumping on sofa without me helping, etc), we are putting off xrays for about another ten days. At that time, she'll get hips, limbs, pelvis, maybe lungs, all xrayed under sedation.

I "casually" mentioned in my earlier post, she had a front leg "issue" a couple of weeks ago. "Something" showed up in that xray at that time and we decided to wait to do a comparison xray in thirty days. THUS, in another ten days (ish) we will be doing thst xrays plus all the others for her back leg "issue". He threw out a couple of possibilities, even Panosteitis(?). Yeah, you'll have to Google it...can't begin to 'splain it! She's 22 months so not sure if she fits the "model" for that or not. Anyway, the xrays should tell us a lot more...or not!

Merry Myrtle was paraded up and down the halls so two vets could watch her gait. She was a little reluctant unless I went with her, and, unless she got praised for it! I told them they had to applaud and say "good girl" each time she got to the end of the hall and turn around. Well....she would get to the end of the hall and sit . In Merry Myrtle's world, sitting and "waiting" means she gets a cookie! So she would sit in front of the tech waiting for a cookie! Her thought bubble...."Each trip up and down the hall will cost you a cookie!"

So here were all these vets applauding her and giving her treats. The vet said he knew Merry Myrtle owned me...he just didn't realize until now that she owns the whole hospital staff!

YAAAAAAAAAY FOR MERRY MYRTLE!! 🙂 GOOD GIRL MYRTLE, GOOD GIRL!!!!clap

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Love the visual picture of Myrtle sitting and waiting for her cookie! The P thing, I think I have heard of it. Isn't that something to do with rapid growth and growth plates? I will have to google. Hope you get some amswers soon. Meanwhile, she looks so comfy and content, not worrying about a thing. Well, maybe where her next cookie is. Hugs, Lori, Ty & Gang

Precious pics.  Glad your sweet Myrtle had a good social time at the vet's.  🙂

Panosteitis (Pano) is a very painful bone inflammation that is most often seen in larger breeds...but it can hit any size dog and although it typically is seen between ages 1-3 years...it can hit dogs who are older too.  Our sable Sheltie boy, Simba, is a small dog who initially got Pano when he was just over 2 years old...and he had repeat episodes of Pano 3x...the last was when he was 6 years old.  Although typically considered a too rapid growth issue...not all cases fit into that category.  For Simba, preds were the recommended treatment and he would always be back to pain-free movement in aprox 3-4 weeks.  In some cases the inflammation is self limiting and doesn't require treatment.  Simba is now 10 years old and hopefully past the time when he will ever have another episode.  Our vet said the oldest dog he had ever treated for Pano was 8 years old...first incident.

When Jasmine first was x-rayed on her front leg when she slid on the ice I think they suggested that as something she could possibly have not sure if that is still something that they are going to consider.  It makes sense that she is acting like it hurts.

You & I know what  you are thinking and I said nope don't do it.  We are all praying that even though Pano is painful it is nothing more serious.

I love all the pictures of Ms Merry Myrtle.  And I love how she got treats every time she walked up & down the hall.

Thanks everybody...thanks sooo much!! Merry Myrtle is slurping up all those positive vibes you are sending like a fine...like a fine..PUPPY LATTE!!way-confused

Michelle...You are so right. You know exactly what I'm rhinking and I'm not gonna do it!! I am NOT gonna think Merry Myrtle's issues are caused by an allergy to Puppy Lattes!!winker

Trina, your pups certainly have given you a lot of knowledge on a vast aviety of issues! Whatever happened to the days when we had childhood dogs and kitties and the worse thing that happened was they puked because they ate something rotten?!

Yeah Lori, I'm getting her on the Dasequin. That panko stuff does seem to be a big dog thing that happens when they are younger and can actually outgrow it. And then we have Trina's smaller Sheltie Simba who was over two when she got it. Craaaazy.

Linda, how 'bout an update on sweet Max? It's been awhile.

Alison and Pam, thanks, as always for your support...and for loving her pictures!!

Keeping positive thoughts coming your way.

Kathi

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Sally, I think of you daily! First of all because I consider you a dear friend. The second reason is that I pass a sign daily that advertises Tablets on sale. I keep thinking THEY have the typo. Should be TAVLETS. Don't they know anything? Thought you could use a chuckle right about now. I know they mentioned that Panko thing when Daryl was in so much pain, but never really checked into it after they found his hip trouble. If that is what is going on, it sounds very manageable. Hope you get answers soon. Meanwhile keep those pictures and lattes coming! Lori, Ty & Gang

Thank you EVERYONE!!! Your supportive energy has made a difference!!!

After a boatload of xrays yesterday, I "think" we're out of the woods on that piece of crap disease!!! way-confused The vet is leaning more and more that it was an undetected "injury" of some sort. The place is still there but I guess since it hasn't changed and started looking worse or more characteristic of that "crap", hes feeling far more confident.clap

Of the three vets that looked at the initial xrays, only one thought it was an injury to begin with! YAY for third opinions. He emaiked these to my "third opinion" vet so she can look everything over.

HOWEVER...oh yeah, there always seems to be a HOWEVER....the ball socket that goes I to one of her hips is "smaller"....or deformed...or something to do woth growth...or injury....so ething along those lines. Anyway, have ro be careful that it doesn't pop out of the socket. Not sure of everything nhe said...maybe surgery down the road....osteoarthritis...blah, blah, blah.

But ya' know what? It ain't that piece of s**t! Maybe in the world of people who aren't on this journey it's not good news. But to all of us...yeah, it's "good" news!!clap

So I had a talk with Merry Myrtle and Frankie....no more medical issues...or else get a job and their own credit cards!! As you can see from the pictures...when I got to the lart where I told them they would jave to get a job, they didn't take me seriously at all!!
