She was playing with some toys this morning before I left her, walked up a full flight of stairs and ate her breakfast/medicine no problem. She wasn't interested in eating at midnight last night, but I was able to syringe her a squeeze treat with gabapentin mixed in and she didn't put up too much of a fuss 🙂
Catching up on Discovery and over the moon happy to hear how well you BOTH are doing👏👏
This is such an informative chronicle for anyone starting out on this journey and expecting everything to run smoothly. Nope, not always the Caesar all. You stuck with it you stayed strong AND you stayed connected here for much needed support.
Huge shout out to Holly for sharing her invaluable support, expertise, encouragement and vast knowledge. She’s such a treasure ❤️
Hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thanks guys! She's doing really well. Today we'll start to back off of the Gabapentin, go from 100mg 3x a day to 2x a day. Still doing well with putting it in the Fancy Feast 🙂 We have not needed any of the just incase Bruprenex the vet sent hope with her this time last week. She occasionally gets mad and is vocal about it when she has trouble getting her balance right away, but I don't think its pain because as soon as she gets her foot under her she's fine.
I've been working with her on getting on and off of the bed in hopes that we'll be able to move back into the bedroom sometime this week; we've been sleeping with her in the living room. She can navigate the foam stairs up and down from the bed, but still scares me when she wants to jump down. Yesterday she fell. She didn't hurt her self just didn't land on her feet either, but she had been able to jump down fine a bunch of times before that. I think she just needs more practice. I did layer several inch's of towels as a crash pad along the sides of the bed so she has some cushion incase she doesn't stick the landing.
My mom and stepfather came over for lunch yesterday and she was her normal social self. She demanded pets from everyone and showed off her hops in between naps 🙂
I was hoping no mews was good mews, and it is! YAY
My hope is Discovery does excellent with the reduction!
We also had a set of foam steps for Purrkins right after surgery - we ended up not using them. The kind we had, the steps were too narrow, and the steps were too close together (if that makes sense) Im not saying yours are the same, but I'll mention it just in case. We love these, and Purrkins has zero issues using them daily. New Cat Condos 120223 Pet Stairs, Neutral, Large. Their website has more here New Cat Condo site,
These are what we use for the bed. Armarkat Pet Steps, 4-steps, B4001, Ivory, 17"(W)x25"(D)x25"(H), each platform 7" Deep Maybe you can look into these in the future when funds allow.
I saw your other post and wanted you to know we have had other members with the same diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma. I'll post the links below if you wish to read about them. Rusty the Bunnyman - links to Ginas Mom to rusty forum posts - Rustys Blog- Vinny and Elvis & Prince Vince Blog/Vinny

SUPER great news, thank you for letting us know how things are going. Sounds like she's getting braver all the time and you are doing a great job managing her activity as much as possible. With practice and time she will have less stumbles.
Paws crossed the pain meds reduction works as planned.
Holly THANK YOU for sharing those links to posts about cats with hemangiosarcoma, that is super helpful for us all.
