All around the world, amputee dogs and cats are showing the world that Tripawds are Pawsome! Eva from Argentina is one of these heroes, and today’s Tripawd Tuesday is shining the spotlight on this beautiful bone cancer warrior princess!

Here is her translated story, as told by her people in Spanish, via Eva’s inspawrational Instagram!
Tripawd Tuesday Q&A: Eva’s Story
How old is your Tripawd?
9 years old (turned 9 on June 1st)
9 años ( los cumplio el 1 de junio)
When and why did your Tripawd lose a leg?

On May 8th, her front left leg was amputated due to osteosarcoma. She never reached the point of suffering as much as other dogs might, because everything happened so quickly; she only started feeling pain in those final days.
Her recovery is going very well—she was walking on her own that very same day, and now, a month and a few days later, she’s getting around great! In her specific case, the hardest part is that osteosarcoma metastasizes. That was the toughest aspect, because the amputation itself was a difficult decision; we were afraid of putting her through something like that for nothing… but we always knew she could handle life on three legs—she can handle anything.
We also have another dog at home, León, who underwent a long treatment process; he was found on the street at three months old after being attacked by another dog.
Amputation was the initial recommendation for one of his legs, but through physical therapy, we managed to restore a lot of its function, and today he walks on all four legs. Thanks to him, we already knew that three legs are better than four—and all the suffering that goes with it!
How did your Tripawd adapt to life on three? Did the reality match your expectations?

Honestly, faster than I expected.
What are your Tripawd’s favorite things to do?
Going for walks, sleeping, and our daily time for massages and cuddles.
Pasear, dormir y nuestro rato de masajes y mimos diarios.
What is the biggest lesson you learned from your Tripawd so far?

That you have to live in the moment, and that when there is love, anger is soon forgotten.
What is your best advice to someone who is about to go through amputation with their pet, or someone who is thinking of adopting a Tripawd?
Trust your vets; there are things we can’t control. Unless it’s a case of advanced terminal illness, I generally think amputation is better than letting the animal suffer—bone pain is intense.
They don’t perceive having three legs the way we do; they just know you’ve taken the pain away, and they adapt!
