We have been doing cbd. I'm not sure if I'm noticing any difference in her because of that. But we are seeing progress. She didn't want her fancy feast with medicine in it last night. Sometimes when she's too distracted she forgets she's hungry, and she was excited to get out of the spare room. After lots of treats and some play time with a wand toy she let me hold her enough to syringe her meds without too much complaint. She was generally calm and sweet the rest of the evening, very playful and only hissed a couple of times when approached to quickly. This morning when she woke me up to be fed I had her fancy feast and meds ready to go on my night stand, along with treats. She ate it up and let me love on her in the bed. She purred for the first time since Monday morning. She's still skittish, but I think she's coming around. sp_hearticon2

Most excellent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💝
Maybe Jerry will have some further insight on the CBD. That "should" help with the anxiety skittish aspect, but the dosage and the type of molecule might not be correct for Discovery. Thats not my wheel house but Jerrys😁 And I may not have worded that correctly 🤪
Give Discovery scratch and smooch when you get home, please whatever she is up for or a treat.

Yes, I feel so confused about what type of CBD to give her. Vet welcomes trying CBD but declines to give any real advice on it since its not part of  her practice. I got her the Penelope's Bloom CBD for cats. It was very well rated and promoted on a bunch of different sites. But either you or Jerry gave me very logical questions to ask them, I emailed twice and never got a response. That makes me very skeptical about them as a company. Not responding makes me feel like they know I wont like the answers so they ghosted me. If anyone has any recommendations for CBD for Cats, both for anxiety and for anti-cancer properties, I'd really appreciate it.

We us Ellevet, It's the only brand our vet would allow us to try and trust for Purrkins. I emailed the company directly with all my questions, and you WILL hear back. Cats need a higher dosage than dogs do. Jerry will have more insight and directions for you. The traditional vets or some are still leery of discussing this and are not educated on this. An integrative Vet will openly discuss this. Im glad your vet is open to it. They need to know what Discovery is on. Purrkins labs DID have some alterations since starting the CBD.

I would not use anything I did not hear back on; THATS ME!! It MAY be a cause to her behavior, when was it started exaclty?

I have contacted them multiple times for Purrkins and ALWAYS hear back from a vet tech. I have no issues suggesting this company but again, Jerry will guide you better than I can on this subject. I can share our experiences with it. So, wait on Jerry's advice before buying something more, and I would stop the other. This is just an opinion.

Honestly, I wasn't being super consistent with it since I was unsure of the product, but I did give it to her on Sunday and Monday.

Agreed. I haven't given her any since Monday since she was having a hard time.

I'll look into Ellevet, thank you! All I've gotten from Penelope's Bloom is spam.

Look into them, but contact them with your questions info@ellevetsciences.com and tell them the reasons you want to use it. Give them Discovery's weight so they will direct you on dosage. Honestly, I was SHOCKED by the dosage. Purrkins does so well on it, and their advice has been gold. Please don't do it on your own; get expert input first through them or Jerry. We do a gel capsule. They have a feline paste but they were honest and told me it's 50/50 on cats eating it so I didnt take the chance on the cost. The gel capsule goes in nicely using a pill gun and they dont get that horrid taste in their mouth. Plus its easier on the gi tract and absorbs nice and slow.

Im glad you stopped the current one I question that being a cause on behavior. I also suggest keep a log on any and all meds being started so you can look back and pinpoint when something goes awry, It helps.

Even though I have very little input on your specific situation, I just want you to know I am following your thread and sending out positive energy to Discovery.   Holly and Jerry are your best resources on all of your current kitty concerns.

I am curious if you could discern any relation between the CBD you were using in Discovery.s reaction?

i’m going to throw out something wild and crazy, OK? It seems that I read somewhere about a cat or a dog having sort of a crazy reaction like this. It ended up being related to …….gosh, I can’t remember… but related to some thing with the electro magnet current zapping them every time they were near it. or maybe it was somehow pitch sound or vibration that only they could hear that was bothering them. I know this is more related to you and your husband so, unless you have some sort of weird smart watch or something that’s putting out some sort of…… Never mind… This is too bizarre for me to try to even formulate anyway.😂😱😀🤪

Sally, that is likely Purrkins you are remembering when they installed our smart meter? I did a post on it

Purrkins Phantom Limb 18 months post amp We did the podcast with tripawds. The link is in the blog post.

I agree this MAY be the CBD that caused this behavior, but lord only knows.

I really don't know. I did give it to her in the days prior to her having this setback, but had given it to her previously with no problem. I'm just not feeling good about it so wont be using it going forward. Not the brand/formulation that we currently have anyway.

I work in tech, and am deliberately low tech at home as a result. We both have smart phones but no smart watches, no tablets, or computers anywhere except the office. So I doubt this is an issue, unless Alexa is secretly brainwashing her when were not around. But anything is possible.

I'm just catching up on everything, Holly's suggestions are spot on. The less places she can hide from you the better.

Is there any way you can find a different, more novel food to give her medication? That way her main meals don't get snubbed?

It's funny Holly mentioned the CBD. I was going to suggest becoming a veterinary cannabis case study. Students are always seeking new cases so they can get their certifications. Anxiety is one of the disorders they really focus on treating with different molecules from the cannabis plant (there are over 200, not just CBD). Message me if you'd like to become a case study (mostly free, other than the product cost and labs if needed).

One more thing about any cannabis products for pets: you really want to use care when giving it while an animal is on Gabapentin. There may be some interactions like extra sedation, so please use care.
