Two weeks post-op, hopefully getting Susie's stitches removed tomorrow--carboplatin?

Yes, I was surprised, too, Rene! Of course, all members of the team I saw (except for the veterinary student, who is still learning) were all specialists, either oncologists or surgeons. The Surgery department basically signs off on your dog after the stitches are removed, so maybe that's why they have no interest in Rehab. The veterinary student admitted she hasn't participated in many amputation surgeries yet. The oncologist was there to explain about chemo options--carboplatin and metronomics .

I'm wondering if I might have gotten a different response if I'd talked with a general physician there. I've only taken Susie to oncologists and surgeons.

Btw, I watched the two parts of the PBS video last night which contained Jerry's story . I loved what you did with him, giving him quality time. And to think he outlived all expectations---and then some! And not only lived, but lived a high-quality, very fun life. It's making me think twice now about opting for chemo, especially when they have no idea if any of the drugs would work on Susie's very rare cancer.

I gave Susie one dose of Gabapentin yesterday, right at bedtime, and she didn't scream out in the night with pain once! I think that's the right regimen for her, as I don't want her to be groggy during the day, since she's relearning how to get around.
