Sally,
Zeus always showed his symptoms w/in 24 hours of chemo (he was also on Carbo). In fact, by treatment 4 he seemed lethargic even before leaving the vet - the effects certainly are cumulative with each treatment. He threw up once the night of his first treatment and after that the vet just gave him a shot of Cerenia at the time of each chemo and we never had any further vomiting after subsequent treatments.
One thing I will stress to everyone going through the chemo treatments is that you should follow your gut and always let your vet know any side effects. Prior to treatment five, Zeus seemed to feel bad. I mentioned it when we went in for the treatment and the vet looked at his bloodwork, temp., etc and found no concerns - said it might have just been a bug. We proceeded with treatment five and within a week he had pneumonia and had to be hospitalized. In hindsight, I shouldn't have proceeded with a treatment that lowers their WBC count and leaves them susceptible to illness right on the heels of a "bug". Just be sure that you use common sense.
Lisa
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Don't know how I missed these posts but I sure hope Happy Hannah is back to being happy!
I also wanted to thank you for posting this, because Kermit goes for his 3rd treatment next Thursday & I think I'll go ahead & give him the anti-nausea med ahead of time just in case. I appreciate the heads-up reminder.
Happy Hannah had a good night--really zonked out so she slept like a baby while I stayed up connected to my lifeline...You guys!!!
It's been almost two hour since she had so e chicken. AND....knock on wood....she's doing fine!!! Ticked because I won't give her more!
Did leave a message with onco.. Ans.service and she had them call me back saying she didn't think it was the chemo....continue with cerenia and if doesn't improve needs to have GI and stomach checked (?).could be "something going on"...... Well...guess what....Happy Hannah and I are picking our own answers today from. the responses of our family here. and today we are selecting reaction to chemo and cerenia is working!!!! Have her answering service call me back.....REALLY?
So Jerry, we are dancing to "celebrate good times, come on" I think Bob Seger was too much rock and roll for a tripawd. Thank you as always for your calming and knowledgeable support!
Lisa, you are so right about going with your gut....especially when all tests are normal...You did what all of us would have done with Zeus when the "doctor" assures everyone the tests are fine....it's just a bug. And that great face STILL makes me smile each and every time I see it!!! Yes, I will definitely do the anti nausea pill before each chemo.
Cathleen, bless your heart..you have your paws full and you're reading out to others. Thank you.
Dharma. That Kermitis just so happy snuggling with you in bed there's no room for nausea to sneak in!! Forgot to ask you earlier, does your husband have a bed on the floor next to you and Kermit?? Thanks for your continue used support. Keep us posted on chem three.

I really o want to get her mug on the site and I've asked a couple of people who know how to take pictures with their computer /cell phone if they'll help me out. Unfortunately their sense of urgency isn't as great as mine! I do have a ommitrnt to mirror (hopefully) who will take a picture AND I think she'll know how to email it to you!
Yeah, I really want and need this journey put to photos.
Happy Hannah seems just fine today and has eaten like normal and it all stayed down!! YAY for not puking!
The tiredness seems gone too as evidenced by her reinstating her three legged baby hippo "gallop" up her ramp when I called, "chicken's ready!"
I'm sure there's some song we could come up with that a choppy chicken dance would fit perfectly!
Love to all, Sally nd Happy Hannah

Just a quick update on my Happy Hannah:-)
All blood works, etc. Came back good today!! YAY!:-) YAY!:-) Going for her hkrd chemo next week and then she only has to do one more after that! YAY! My sweet brave funny loving girl!!
Have a question though for my experienced team of invisible "advisors". My normal vet did say that her platelet count is LOW.
Normal is 170--400. Hers is 45! He said since everything else was normal ABC, etc. That this just indicate bone marrow surpression and that,s to be expected with chem. Of course, info service is closed til Monday.
Seems like I recall something in Dress let's book about if something was low it's not good...or the other way around....but I think that was about a bone specific ALP test or something like that!
.?? Not platelet.
Any way, just curious..
Gotta go get ready for her celebration party! Oh yeah!!! More good news
, she hasn't lost weight during chemo!!!Bad news.....she hasn't lost weight during chemo!!!:-)
We're gonna dance some weight off with these victory dances though........I'm thinking a little
"Here she comes just a walking down the street singing, DO WAH DITTY DITTY DUM DO WAH DO!". okay' anyone recognize that tune and who ?
Much love to all and holding everyone safe in our hearts and celebrating ALL tripawds! Sally and Happy Hannah

Great news all around, Sally! Really, I'm so happy for you and Hannah. And as for losing weight, I know what you mean. You want it done on your terms.
The picture is great and I understand about it affirming her existence. I wish you could post a whole bunch more. I'd love to see her. I know you had help with the avatar. Maybe that help can be sweet-talked into appearing again.
Evelyn just went to the bank with me and they gave her a cookie. She's on a diet...so she thanks Hannah for giving her permission to eat the doggone thing!
