Last night we got lots of rest with no crying, this morning I woke up with him standing on the floor looking towards the door to go outside. He hopped out to the kitchen on his own got some water and then we went outside for a poop and pee. Now after a few more hours of rest he doesn’t seem all that interested in his food 😔

Wow that's a major victory with water, poop and pee! smiley_clap All of his activity might not seem like a lot but I'll bet he's just tired from it and not real hungry. Have you tried spiking his food with something like scrambled eggs or ... bacon?! 😉 If he eats that, then you're in good shape. Sometimes a new Tripawd needs more incentive to eat when the pain meds are dulling the taste budgs.

How's his mobility today? Does he still show a lot of unsteadiness?

Jules is doing so well!!  Really!!!  It seems as though every day beings another victory.   And yes, we count pee, poop, drinking  and eating as big victories!  And stand on his own and walking! Great news!!  He ate some and that's  great!!  He may be picky off and on for awhile.  Jist keep feeding h. ANYTHING  he will eat....cheeseburger,  cheese pizza crust, bacon, liverwurst,  etc.

Keep these good updates  coming!

So we think Jules has a leaking seroma , last night he got a bit excited and tried to run up the ramp outside into the house. He was laying down and I looked and saw what I initial thought was blood soaking through his shirt. Luckily I did all my readings and knew that a seroma may happen. I called the emergency clinic, sent pictures and they said there was no need to rush in and just call our normal vet in the morning. Lots of warm compresses and 3 shirt changes later he is finally resting. He did eat his breakfast and poop and pee outside this morning!  We are heading into our vet around 1pm so hopefully they can bandage him up, I do not want a drain put in after the chaos of the drain when they first removed the mass. Yet another sleepless night, we knew we would have ups and downs and I am just hoping this is a minor setback!

Oh jules, you do continue to amaze me! Excitedly running up the tamp and then woofing down your breakfast.......uou make me smile!!!

Yep, seromas happen sometimes.  Let us know what the Vet says.  Most likely he wont need a drain and, hopefully, with a little extra care  It will clear up on its own.

Aww bummer! Well if it's any consolation, seromas are pretty common and usually not harmless. Most vets won't put a drain in, they usually subside on their own and with the compresses. Keep us posted!

I hope so, this one is draining on its own so much we have to be constantly changing his shirts so he’s not wet. He is doing so well otherwise this is just a huge bummer

Yeah a total pain to have that much drainage, but that really is a good thing that it's happening. How is the incision looking today?

We lost Jules this morning due to a hemorrhage. It happened very suddenly and unexpectedly but he wasn’t in any pain or discomfort. He spent the last few days roaming outside, laying in the grass and he even managed to sneak all the way upstairs yesterday by himself. We’re gutted but we’re so glad he was able to spend his last days in top form. The vet doesn’t think it was related to the amputation but may have been related to the cancer diagnosis. Thank you all for everything.

Oh noooooo! Oh my dog I am just heartbroken, it's unbelievable how quickly that happened. I'm so very, very sorry. I cannot imagine the shock.

That you are able to see the good in how he got his sparkle back, speaks volumes about how much wisdom Jules shared with you. Through your heartache you see the positives. That takes so much courage. You are amazing, and the great human that he knew you were from the day you met.

Our entire community grieves when we lose a member. Please know that we are still here for you. If and when you feel up to sharing Jules' life with us in a Coping with Loss tribute, we would love to get to know him better and honor the bond you had with him.

Had to come back and let you know jow Jules touched  our hearts eoght from the start.  And your love and devotion  touched us also.  This was unforeseen and an unexpected  tragedy.  We have seen this on ocassion where it just strikes oit of the blue.  Such a sneaky relentless piece of crap disease.

To know Jules had such a great time these past few days where he got to be his cheeky self  is what will sustain you.   That and all the floriois memories  you and he shared all these years. The fact that yoi gave Jules a chance and the fact that you crammed in more  love and spoiling since his amputation  than you ever thought was humanly possible.   And Jules  relished in every second of it.

We k ow there are no words right now.  We know grief has to be dealt with in your own way and at your own pace.    When you are up to it, we would  love to know more about Jules and all the ways he made you laugh and all the ways he let his personality  shine through.

Jules will connect  with you and let you know his energy is still with you just as your energy is still with him.💖..

We are all sooooo privileged,  so very privileged to get a chance to meet this gentle Warrior of a dog.  Yes, his time with  us here  was waaay to short.  Yet he jumped into our hearts and we fell in love with him instantly  as though we had known him a thousand years.  Thank you for that.

Surrounding you with Jules eternal  light

I have no words! I am so sorry for your loss. It’s amazing what dogs do in their final days and how they spread joy. Jules was so fortunate to have you. Sending love.
