Just wanted to say hello as it has been a few months since we checked in. We are doing fantastic in Elk Grove, CA. Brody continues to love to run at the dog park, and being a greyhound remains one of the fastest dogs there. Please take heart that osteosarcoma doesn't have to be an immediate death sentence although the recovery from the amputation was brutal. Brody is as strong as ever....but he eats a lot of protein and no wheat products. He also had chemo last summer. I have added more carbs lately just to give him more endurance. It is trial and error, and we love every day that he is with us. Whatever your challenges, remain strong, your dog loves you for helping him/her in any way that you can.
Brody's mom, Pat

Atta boy Brody. 14 months is pawsome!
Pat, thanks for the encouraging reminder. I often forget to just enjoy the time I have with my boy and I find myself focusing on the disease and an unsure future. We have had so much sadness here at Tripawds as of late. It's really uplifting to hear Brody's inspirational update.

14 months is an awesome update, and still going strong. Brody is moving into celebrity status. Love to hear all of the milestones, but in particularly the ones past 12 months. That seems to be the measuring status for awesome. Keep kicking cancer butt, Brody. You're a hero!

Brody,
WOW!! A milestone as great as 14 months is definately reason to PAWRTY. Be sure that you get extra hugs, more playtime, special treats and my personal favorite way of celebrating ICE CREAM!!! I am so glad to hear that you are doing so very well and that the chemotherapy is just a distent memory. Dad has always said, that my real improvement began when all those chemicals were gone from my system. That is when food started to taste good again and Dad introduced me to ICE CREAM.
Keep on enjoying life and be sure to bring good news like this to this community. It made Dad smile and that is good on Father's Day.
Spirit Cherry
Thanks for the Greyt Update!

Pat, he's come such a long way, thank you for the update!
For anyone who isn't familiar with Brody's story, here's some topics Pat posted:
Bleeding capillaries (if it wasn't for this post, we wouldn't have known about the bleeding issues that Greys can experience after amputation surgery)
Brody (another grey) has his first chemo today
Pat, I forgot you're in Elk Grove. If you are ever able to, our Northern CA Tripawds bunch is recuriting members for their next get together in Mill Valley! If it's too far for you I'm sure the folks there would be willing to meet you halfway. Hope you can make it next month!
