Tracy I had no idea you were so close to Mizzou. Go there, to their cancer specialists especially Dr. Selting if you can get in to see her on request. She and her team are awesome and I know they can help. Let us know how today goes. It's good she's eating here and there!

Jerry,

My daughter is up at Mizzou right now just visiting from the long weekend.  I just sent her a text.  Mizzou is 2 hours away from us I guess that is why we chose VSS from the very start.  But at this point I will do anything.

OK, I never had a chiropractor be so rude in my life.  OK, never seen Baileys records, x-rays, etc., never seen Bailey, all he knows is the few questions that his whatever asked me.  He never even SEEN BAILEY... just tell me how does he know?  Didn't ask where it hurts, how is she reacting when she tries to stand..... nothing...........She goes what is a tri-paw?????? I said a three legged furry human.... she goes ohhhhhhhhhhh.... never heard of that....... can I climb through the phone and B_itch slap you??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Never really talked like  a conversation....just plain rude and said I have to call you back ok so we played that game 4 times... she kept calling me back ask one fricking question and then say I have to check someone out can I call you back (use nasally voice here!)  I was very polite until the last conversation when she called back and said that Dr. Schaefer said he doesn't think he could do Bailey any good.   REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYY without seeing her..... or is it because youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu do acupuncture in your office also and we go to someone else, but Dr. Snodgrass was kind enough to recommend you due to the fact that Dr. Frick is out until the 11th.  CAN YOU TELL I'M MAD!

Soooo if you are in the St. Louis area I do not recommend Dr. Schaefer (in St. Louis Hills area) and recommend Dr. Frick.  at Pet Rehab and Clinic - http://www.Anim.....tLouis.com; 636-489-5350.

I'm sorry I'm so upset but you don't tell me you can't help my furry baby until you at least look at her and take my money!  Howe does he know?

LOVE AND TIGHT HUGS,

Tracy and Bailey

P.S. Jerry, she's not really wanting to eat, we do open her mouth and use a spoon...   🙁    I just want her happy and not end this way.

Sally, It hurts when she squats (spine?) I can tell she goes down real slow and then she drops her rear completely.  The other she goes but the tail is in the way and it's not solid from the canned Prescription Diet A/D.

Ohhh we are going back today for #3 acupuncture, they called with an opening, today would have been #2 but we took her in on Thursday as an emergency to see if she could relieve some pain and I do believe it worked as well as the Rescue Remedy drops by Bach.

OK, sorry, but not sorry..... please don't piss me off right now....   mad

I know it's hard to update with everything going on, but we all sure appreciate it.

Sorry she puked...but glad she actually ate something!!! A little chocolate chip cookie here and there wont hurt. Dont fuss at hubby too much...he did get her to eat! Actually, he might be onto something by addingthe hamburger...maybe it just needs to be smaller amounts more frequently. At least peanut butter is good for her. Ibet she is a cutie pie when she looks around to see if you've left the room.! Such a sweetie.

If it seems to hurt her to pooh..all that could still mean something is going on with her spine. Hope you can get some answers and relief for her this week.

Keep stylin' those PJs !! You'll start a new trend in the world of fashion!

Sending love and hugs...

Sally and Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Sally,

Raw hamburger is ok to give her?  Do you or anyone know how much or if I should mix raw hamburger with brown rice... I'm at a loss here so open for all suggestions.

Sorry you had such a bad experience after waiting so long. Frustrating beyond words!! It would certainly be one thing to come to that conclusion of not being able to help once they had seen her records, consulted with you, etc.

Maaaaybe, and I hope so with all my heart and soul....maybe this third acupuncture will bring some relief and maybe Bailey will eat more when the vet feeds her! That silly girl!

Okay, yes, I guess there are sorts of concerns about feeding raw hamburger, or raw anything. And there are just as many concerns about the kibble, canned food, et. we are feeding our dogs! All I can say is, before anything ever came up about e.coli or salmonella, or whatever...I used to ALWAYS give my dogs their pills in a wad of raw hamburger and I always ate raw chocolate chip cookie dough with RAW eggs!!!

Soooo, check with your vet, but I say if Bailey will eat raw hamburger...or even just lightly browned...give it to her!!!!! Maybe a cup a twice or three times a day...prteyy much whatever her system will tolerate...just not a lot at once. And yeah, maybe try for l ightly cooked.

Continue to stay focused on what's in Bailey's best interest...what, if anything, she is communicating to you about her wishes, You seem to have a good relationship with this acupuncturist. Ask her to be honest. I know, that you know, having to take Coedine and Gabapentin continuously cant mean that great of a quality. Certainly if this Dr. thinks she can make a difference and improve her quality, then that would be great! Just ask her for her honest assessment as soon as she feels she can give you one.

Keeping all paws crossed that acupuncture and hamburger...and a few more of your mother-in-law's cookies can make a difference!!!!!

Sending love and continued energy towards relief for Bailey..

Satin Balls are very common for fattening up elderly greyhounds. They are a combination of ground beef, wheat germ, cream cheese, eggs (sometimes raw or hard boiled -we use hard boiled), oils, some type of cereal like oatmeal and/or Total, and sometimes molasses.

You may want to use recipes that are lower carb. Most dogs can handle eating raw hamburger but you have to weigh your risks.

OK, time to get over to Mizzou. If anyone can help Bailey, they can. Tell them it is URGENT, and make sure they are aware of exactly what's going on. It would really help to write down your info before calling, gathering your thoughts and having them ready is so important and will get her seen sooner I'll bet.

Breathe, we are here for you.

First off I apologize for my last post.  I do not talk like that nor am I a mean person. Ohhhh Bonnie you have no idea you get to the point where you're like REALLY did I just hear that.  Take my money first then tell me that after you have examine her.  Ohlala!!!  I did hang up on her when she kept saying I can't answer that... I said would my records help... I kept throwing out questions... and she said "Maaaammmmm (nasally voice hear) I can not answer that."  I just said ok whatever and hung up.  After all that I don't want them touching my dog.  Go to find out tonight that is the Dr. Schaefer's wife...  poor guy!  My doctor apologized when I was telling her the story and she said that's his wife I have heard that before that she can be that way, she's like you have to try to get around her... soooo I'm not the first. Can you say flat tire!  (I wouldn't do that!)

Bailey did have her third acupuncture tonight and she did well, she really relaxed to the point of having stinky air!!!  The doctor seems to think she has improved since last Thursday and I do agree with that.  She's not screaming and she is figuring out how to get up she gets frustrated on how to untangle her back legs but we stand by to catch her if she starts to fall.  She does whine out of frustration and probably pain.  We didn't give her codeine yesterday at all, she seemed to not need it as long as she can get on her amp side she can sleep all night.  She doesn't want to be on that left leg.

So today the doctor is having us go down to once again on the Gabapentin to 1/2 daily.  Hopefully we can get her off of this and maybe her appetite will come back.  But she said she needs to stay on the Carprofen (Rimadyl generic?) and that could be effecting her appetite as well but lets get her off hopefully the Gabapetin.

She's being a stinker tonight she is refusing to eat, but something funning... this morning I put kibble in one bowl and I put brown rice and freshly cooked chicken breast chunks in the other... stood in my bathroom, called her in and I could hear her slowly getting to her feet because she does feel it... she comes hoping in crossed legs in all and I stepped out of the bathroom and said get in the garage... that means put your head between your legs whn your standing and you get a butt rub... just something silly my husband started... I wanted to see if she would do it with me... she came right up to me and just put her head down so she got butt and ears rubs and I said ok lets eat... she hopped to the raised feeder... Sally I went into the bathroom and the little shit shoveled them both out and sneezed and hopped back to one of the beds in my bedroom... I was laughing so hard inside... it did make me smile... I keep praying that it's just a muscle or something easily fixable.

But now that we had our acupuncture treatment and are at home she drank a bunch of water and went to lay down... we forgot to feed Bella and she's starting to get ticked at us... the last couple of days she refuses to eat her kibble out of her raised bowl... ohhhh if you guys could see the look she's giving us. So we brought it into her and Neil had to hand feed her (she's 10, bless her heart and she's so funny!) So Miss Bailey lays down and I cook up mini burgers with cheddar cheese on them for her... (Neil says they are sliders... where's his... I said the lunch meat is in the fridge the bagel thins or by the stove, chips in the pantry...)

Ohhh guys... the little shit would not even taste one... guess what she finally just ate?  A peanut butter tortilla roll cut into slices.....   SHE's a little shit.  I have to laugh or I would be pulling my hair out... today I'm strong after not wanting to call another doctor and then get treated like that... my anger came out.  Sooo I can laugh at things tonight and roll with it. I bring her something to eat and she's like really...  peanut butter!!!

OK, on to a call to VSS for more recommendations and my regular local vet.  Mizzou is 2 hours away but I am going to call and talk to someone about it.  Bailey hates car rides and two hours in the car I'm not so sure, but we shall see.

You guys asked for updates and we are all family hear so I let it fly today!  Ooooops

To all of you who follow Bailey thank you so much for all the love and support.  You do feel it even on a web page.  I have been on here more because I just need to vent and clear my head.

God Bless You All!  This site is amazing.

LOVE AND TIGHT HUGS!!

Well, I have to hand it to you and Bailey..and Bella and Neil too...you all actually have me laughing reading this post!!!

We've got...bi**h slapping a Dr.'wife....weve got slashing of tires..we've got you COOKING for Bella and Bailey...and sending Neil on a hunt for luch meat and a bag of chips...you've given us all a new phrase in lieu of "Do you want a butt rub?"...it's now.."Go put your head in the garage and you'll get a butt rub!" OMD!!!

And then we have Ingrid suggesting SATIN BALLS!

Ohhhh myyyy...what an update this is!!!

Please continue to keep us updated. I know it's time consuming but we all care.

I just want to add that, you mention over and over you just want to see Bailey happy one more time. Again, this journey constantly has us "re-defining" things. Bailey is happy because she has you by her side loving her and caring for her. So you can always hold onto that memory that you did get to see her happy again and that can help you as you move forward doing what's best for Bailey.

And another great memory of being able to "see her happy" is having her come over to you "putting her head in the garage" for a butt rub!!! That's worthy of a picture!!!

So what's Dr. Snodgrass's next plan? What does she see as the outcome of her treatments?

Be sure and eat something your own self, okay??? Stay connected....we are here with love and hugs!!!

Well...

I haven't been on and I don't have good news.  Bailey's left paw started turning over when she gets up and we flip it over I know neurological right   :(

Today my husband had her outside and she kept falling because that paw flips back... YES I'M CRYING, YES I'M SICK AND READY TO PUKE!

She's laying here crying and I'm trying to help her. I ask her are you hungry baby, do you want water... potty... and if only she could talk...  she does try to get up when she wants to potty...

Do I continue the condeine so she can sleep all the time (every 8 hours?) That's not a life, she's being fed what ever we can get down her throat, not what she wants except peanut butter on tortilla sliced in quarters.  I wish she could talk.

I'm not sure about acupuncture being the right thing and I'm not sure a chiropractor could fix it... you just touch her back leg by her hind end (quarter muscle) and she raises her head like don't touch and she doesn't like you to touch that leg.

GUYS WHAT DO I DO.

My head down, and I feel bad shoving food in her mouth with a spoon.  Once its in she likes it but she won't willingly eat the Prescription Diet or anything I make.

Her eyes just stare at me.  I think it's time, but I don't know... I have a million questions and what ifs running through my head.. could a chiropractor make it better... I DON'T HAVE A CLUE!

Mizzou isn't an option.

So I'm signing off for now trying to suck it up so I can go lay by her.

LOVE AND TIGHT HUGS, PLEASE DON'T LET GO I NEED YOU GUYS RIGHT NOW!

Tracy and Bailey
