Czar's definitely feeling a bit more pain tonight. He has to lay on the incision once in a while. It's too big to avoid entirely. It's looking less pink every day. There's been no drainage, which is great. He's been taking his pain meds right on time. I'm hoping he's really on the mend by Monday, when I go back to work. He won't have constant watching then, so he'd better be. Thankfully I had four days off right as I picked him up. He wasn't feeling dinner tonight, but I'll try again in the morning.

Aww poor guy. Yeah that front-leg amputation incision is huuuuuuuge. I'm glad it looks otherwise healthy though. I do wonder if maybe his pain medication timing can be adjusted to help him feel better. Talk to your vet about a different schedule to see if that will help keep his pain levels steady.

How was he this morning? Did he eat?

I'm going to talk with his surgeon Monday. If tonight is rough, I'll call the after hours vet on call tomorrow. He's doing better than yesterday. Still no real eating, except for dog jerky and ham. I'm going to try some gravy and ham ground up in the kibble tonight.

Paws crossed that will talk him into eating.  You know he just might need a small med modification, I know you're all over this.  I also know that doesn't make out any easier.

I hope you have a better night tonight❤❤❤

He ate tonight. I mixed a bit of ham and gravy into his food. Czar's also been a bit more willing to wag his tail. Thankfully, he's slept most of today. He needed it. He can still do the porch stairs independently, even if he does get really tired. Riot had a good PT session today, and is happily out like a light.

YAY for eating! Oh gosh I started worrying that he was going to have some difficulties there. I'm so glad you were able to get some food into him. See, you know all the tricks now, Nurse Mom! 😉

To have both boys going through this situation has got to be exhausting for you. I wish we could be there to sit with those two and help you out in some way. I know you've got things under control but I'm guessing you could use a break. I know I would.

Give them extra smooches from us. Here's to full bellies and happy tired doggies.

And we have TAIL WAGS!!!!!!!!    Nuttin' better than the thump--thump of a wagging tail during recovrry!!!!

Yeah, if his pain was taki g hild, that would definitely  be a reason he didn't  feel like eating.  So glad to hear he ate tonight😎    Cant  beloeve he's handling stairs along with couch surfing😎

Mr Riot had a good PT session...... ore good news.

You sure are juggling a lot.  As Jerry said, we sure wish we could help somehow.  Qish we were there to rotate  shifts so you could sleep in and not have to lift a finger!  For now though, all we can do is keep cheer you on from afar and send love❤

Yes, I wish I could have people who've been through it sit with them for a bit. But we're getting through. Czar had a much better night. He ate some plain kibble last night, and slept well. He passed out on my lap this morning, and seems more content.

He's doing so well!! And of course his mama's fabulous nursing skills play a huge roll in that 💖

He looks like he has a fabulous personality by his facial expressions,  big teddy bear 💞💞💞

He's easily tired, but how could he not be? I'm hoping we can slowly get some serious weight off him. He's sporting a shirt right now, and hasn't bothered the incision. He really needed a cone break.

Czar is hands down the happiest dog I've ever had. He really loves everyone. Just like Riot, he's developing a fan club at my local and specialist vet.

Yiu certainly  have two examples of how different a recovery  can be.  Riot would6 eat and you were so worried about try8 g yo fet hom yo CHUNK UO! Czar seems to be eating fairly "normally" for a dog who just had major surgery a few days ago and is on pain meds and antibiotics....and you need to take some CHUNK OFF!!!!

That is the sweetest photo jn the world of that handsome voy resting so well with that creased cone.  I know we all keep saying it, but just love his coloring😊

These two dogs are getting the most spect care any dog could evvvver hope for! Yes, you were dealt a s***ty hand,  but you getting through it with a force of grit and determination we all can learn from.

Let us know how tomorrow goes at work.  In a bizarre way, it may be a little therapeutic  for you to not be cars giving  24 /7.  And good for Riot and Czar to be back to a little bit of a normal routine... as normal as can be under the circumstances.  I'm beyond stupid when it comes to computer and smarty phone, but I know at home camera stuff can be set up so you can see these two on phone or computer  while at work.

Lots of hugs

I'm hoping today goes well. We got a foot+ of snow, and it's still coming, so I had to shovel paths this morning. Czar loves to eat snow, and Riot loves to lay in it.

Geez whizz!!!!  Just what you need, a foot of snow!!!  Of course, clearly Riot and Czar think it's the best thing evvvver!!!   And good news for Czar...there are no calories in snow cones!!!!

Wooooah that's a lotta snow! Well at least it will feel good on his incision if he lays down on it.

The weight loss can happen pretty quickly with dogs. Unlike us humans, they can drop it relatively fast. Has your vet talked about a diet strategy with you? If not be sure to ask during his follow-up visit.

Hope the weather system goes through quickly!
