I can't even imaging what you are going through! So sorry! At least knowing a little of what to expect is a good thing, rather than stumbling around blind like I felt we were when we went through this. Throughout our journey, I kept telling myself "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger"....

Paula and Warrior Angel Nitro

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

Yes. It was fast. I go to a specialist hospital, so they almost always have a surgical opening in a day or so. Riot was done the same day, as his leg was broken.

Thanks again everyone. You can follow us here.

Yes, that's how we found out Riot had it. Czar I caught much earlier. There was no bone degradation at all, just new bony cancer growth.

He is beautiful! I was also worried about it being the front leg, but I worried for nothing. They work it out!

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

He is a very handsome boy!  I just love the brindle coloring.

Well, you don't need all the advice and support a new member needs since you just went down this path.  I know you must be mentally exhausted though.

One week before Tri-Pug Maggie finished her chemo her little sis Tani was diagnosed with the same type of cancer on her belly (mast cell cancer).  We were six months out from her amp (long chemo regimen for mast cell) and I was just burnt out from the stress and worry about Maggie.

Being an 'old pro' dealing with this stuff has it's advantages but it doesn't always help with the emotional parts.  I was talking to an old Tripawds friend years ago, complaining a bit about how much of a handful Tani was to care for.  She told me then that dogs come into our lives for a reason- because we are willing and able to care for them.

You guys sure got dealt a tough hand.  Know that you will make it though this recovery just like you did with Riot. Be kind to yourself too- you have a lot on your plate!

Karen and the Spirit Pug Girls

Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.

A few tears of joy going on over here and for so many reasons.   Handsome Czar is home!!!   I'm  sure Riot is going to help show him the ropes on how to be yet another Tripawd RockStar.

Karen said everything so well.  Yes, you may have  the "technique" down on how to care for a tripawd, but the stress and emotions back to back have to be exhausting  and overwhelming.

And yes, as Karen said, dogs do come into our lives for sooooo many reasons  and on sooooo many Soul level lessons.   Czar and Riot certainly  don't  see themselves as unlucky.  They think they are the luckiest dogs on earth to be so well loved and so well cared for by the best hooman a pup could have!!❤❤   They both k ow uou eill fo everything  possible to help them continue  to love life to the fullest.

I know when .life throws you all these curve balls, it's hard to put one foot  in front of the other, especially when so many are in a  "festive mood".   Ee ste hete yo share our stre th woth uou, our love with you and are admiration for putting that one foot in front of the other.  It doesn't  have to look pretty and it doesn't  mean you might not stumble (just like Czar and Riot do when trying to regain their balance), but we will be there to help lift you up.  Just like Riot and Czar know they can count on you....you can count on us.

STAY CONNECTED and keep pictures of your handsome boys coming!!  You and your pups arr not alone!   We are all on  TEAM CZAR AND RIOT😎

Lots of extra higs

Those are wise words from Karen! I couldn't have said it better myself.

He looks so good. I hope you guys have a very mellow holiday weekend. It reminds me of when we brought Jerry home on Thanksgiving day. We didn't care that there was no fancy meal for us that day, we were just so grateful he was alive and on the mend.

Czar, we love you!

Riot, show him how it's done!

Awwww... handsome boy sp_hearticon2 I can't say anything any better than Karen and Sally. You know there are healing thoughts and feelings headed your way from across many states. Our hearts are hugging you even though our arms aren't long enough.

Please take care of yourself too. Like Karen said.. be kind to yourself. We all know how much work you have ahead of you but please take some time for yourself too. This emotional trainwreck that just slammed through is just as tough, even tougher than physical work.

Thank you for checking in and sending that handsome photo... he is so smoochable. I hope his recovery goes smoothly for all of you, and I agree that Riot will be there all the way helping you nurse his bro back to health.

You also have a big cheerleading squad here sp_hearticon2

Big hugs,

Jackie and Huckleberry sp_hearticon2

Thanks again everyone. Czar is still doing well. He's been mainly sleeping, which is great. He's gone out very quickly, and needed some sling support, but that's expected. He took his meds and ate his dinner. After Riot refusing to eat for so long, that's a huge relief. Riot has been giving Czar his space, while still hanging out.

I have a slew of serious health problems myself, which have unfortunately flared up. No surprise. I have a DR appointment next week, the day before Riot has his 2 months post chemo scans.

Excuse me for one brief moment, but I have to chuckle just a little.  The difference  between a "novce" like yourself and a first time newbie is auch a great contrast!  A newbie would be asking a gazzillion quesrions about everything you just mentioned....pottying, using a sling, eating, sleeping, meds, etc.  And here you are, chronicling the events with no real fear, no panic.  You have a clear understanding  what to expect (unfortunately).  And YAY FOR EATING!!-! I know that had to be a relief!

And now YOU have health issues!!  Damn!!!   The stress you've  been under sure didn't  help.  Like all of us here, I wish we could help lighten the load somehow.   A suggestion...  maybe uou xould delay Riot's follow up to give yourself  a little to time to heal, and to give Czar a little time to heal.  A couple of weeks shouldn't  matter as long as Riot is doing well and that woild give you time to stay at home snd catch your breath.

If at all possible, try and get some good sleep!  Try some natural herbs, some amino acids like L-Lysine and hot  teas to help lull you  into sound sleep.

Yes, it's very weird to pretty much know what to expect. Thankfully, Czar is bouncing back like I've heard most dogs do. He even pooped today. Riot took 4 days. He had his meds and went back to sleep. I hope he goes all night.

For my own well being, I'm going to get Riot his scans. I'd feel worse not doing it.

I already take a bunch of supplements, including that. I've missed a few doctor appointments since Riot lost his leg, but I can't put them off any more.
