I would totally do a tattoo as Well! But if it's like the places around here, you almost never get an appointment on short notice.

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! I'll go with whoever wants to get tattoos, I'll be the cheering squad and I'll take you guys to the places I know are decent.........and Teri, I LOVE antique stores (I collect antique books). I know a huge one we can go to. It's called the West End Antique Mall, lots of vendors. There are a lot of cool historical places to see if you guys are into that. You can do a quick search of Richmond and let me know if you see anything that interests any of you in particular. There is amazing history in this city. I know some great places to take dogs also...look up Belle Isle and the canal walk, the Potterfield Memorial Bridge area also. There is some great food here also.

Hi Teri! I'm not down for tattoos quite yet but I am down for antiquing and sight-seeing. I've never been either and would love to see something other than woods! 🙂 I'll have Jasper with me though so not sure how dog-friendly these places are (in Oregon, I usually have to carry her ) but I'm down for anything too.

I'll also have a car so I am pretty mobile!

I would love to see some historic sights to... I'm a morning person so any time will be great for me (us). 🙂

Can't wait!!!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

I'm looking forward to seeing the area. I looked up family tree stuff and found 3 generations of like 5th to 8th great grand parents back to 1700 that had land just SE in King and Queen County so I plan on checking of that out too. And I love antiques, but I will have the 2 rowdies and 1 old gal with me.

I'm going to defer to Elizabeth on some great places to see to really get a vit of the historical flavor of Virginia. I'm actually glad some want to do such a variety of things...whether it's "communing with nature", doing tatoos, doing some sightseeing, or antique stuff...or just hanging out in a bar and drinking....or all of the above 🙂 🙂

Karma, really interesting you have some family history in Virginia! Maybe you will actually track down a really, really, really distant relative!

In the very beginning.....waaaaay back.....when Elizabeth was first suggesting dog friendly places to stay, she was trying to pick locations that would have fairly easy access to some historic sites. Then I think we got the impression that doing stuff like that wasn't of much interest. Sooooo.....we kind of dropped the ball and haven't really given much attention to coming up with doable, driveable things....but we shall!!! So EXCITING!!

Heck, even the not well known Edgar Allan Poe Museum is quite interesting, as is Williamsburg, as is Jamestown....and on and on!!!

STAY TUNED!!

Alison! Isn't Jasper Lily officially a therapy dog who can go everywhere with you? And IF she must be carried, goodness kniws we have plenty of dog wranglers to help with that!!! 🙂

Yea I'm hoping to find something dog friendly and maybe history related to do Saturday morning. I know at the last party 2 years ago my roommate and I took our dogs to tour a battlefield and that was pretty awesome, so maybe something similar. A bar with maybe an outdoor dog friendly patio could be fun for Friday night!

Alrighty, consider me on top of this!  I doubt anyone will care about a small dog that can be carried, I see them all around the stores. If anyone questions, instant emotional support dog! Haha. Today and tomorrow are crazy busy for me at work, but I will work on a list and get it up here by the end of the weekend with links. I'll check out dog friendly bars too. I can fit 4 people comfortably in my SUV also.

I am up for anything! Count me in whatever. Sight-seeing, tattoos, antiquing and bars all sound good to me! 😊 (Would require a place on my skin without ink and a ride though...)

She does have her vest!!! And I don't like to abuse the ESA dog benefits but I will carry her in my arms if need be! I basically don't bring her in grocery stores (even though I can) unlike everyone else here in LA. I just think that is too dangerous for all ... Jasper would love the prepared food section at Whole Foods! 🙂

Thank you for arranging some stuff to see! 🙂

THANK YOU ELIZABETH 🙂 🙂

Yeah Alison, Jasper Lily and I woukd gorge ourselves in Whole Foods prepared stuff! My definition of homecooking is heating up their prepared foods in my toaster oven!

Okay....Friday.....everyone is invited to my home Friday for some wine, tea, and treats!! I have fenced overgrown "yards" so dogs can be in separate from each if need be. I think Frankie and Merry Myrtle will be a bit obnoxious abput "guest" dogs on "their" turf. Bob and Nellie will be much more welcoming. It's gonna be a bit of a drive for some after a long day of airplanes and driving,so if not everyone can make it, that's certainly very understandable!!!

We can go to a country style restaurant from there in the "Village" of Powhatan where dogs are allowed with us on the porch. Just need to make a reservation.

Just throwing it out there...AND ....putting it in writing to FORCE myself to straighten things up around here!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Address, time, etc to follow 🙂

AND TERI! You are staying on Research Rd, right???? You mentioned staying mear the airport and that's not. PLUS, the airport area is NOT where Elizabeth suggest!!

WAHOOOOOO!!! Almost time!!! 🙂

Sounds like a plan Sally!  Thank you so much!   Don't go to any trouble to "purty up your house" for us though we're coming to see you not your house lol.
