Base location : RICHMOND VIRGINIA
Dates: MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND (May 26-29, 2017) Some out of towners will be coming in Friday night and staying til Sunday or maybe Monday.
PRELIMINARY gathering location for anyone bringing dogs ROCKWOOD PARK, Chesterfield, Virginia on Saturday (possibly Sunday, or both!)). Have to confirm reservation for picnic shelter and dog park with Park.

More specifics to follow!! It's more of a "gathering", maybe some dinner get togethers, etc rather than lots of "events", unless someone wants to line up "events"!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I'm definetly in! I plan to fly in Friday morning, and stay till Monday afternoon (or Tues am, whichever I can get the best price on). I've started looking at flights and lodging. Sally you mentioned B&B's....need some input on this. Otherwise I was looking at a hotel near the airport to make it easy on myself. I am so not an experienced traveler. Any help in this area would be welcome. Perhaps a driver to chauffeur me around? LOL

I can't wait. I will start looking at tickets and hotels too 🙂 Yay. Well I took a week off so I can stay a little longer and do some tourist stuff I guess after the party. I am planning friday before til ? I need to come back probably by Saturday so I can get settled in before work on Monday.

Geez, I know there are tons of questions. The airport is not that close to where the Park is, much less anything too touristy.
I actually live about an hour West so I'm not all that knowledge about Richmon stuff either.
Just bear with me a little bit and I'll see if I can find some hotels, etc I just thought a B&B woukd be nice so the out of towners coukd all stay together. Have no idea if one exists or if it is reasonably priced.
I'm not an experienced traveler either...even in my own area!!
I do know that it may require a car rental or maybe some of the Richmond group can "pick up and deliver" to and from the hotel and airport and wherever else we do this thing!

I don't mind renting the car and driving. We can all stay at the same hotel. Just need some ideas of what is around that area. 🙂

Hopefully we can arrange to arrive at airport near the same time, then we can share a rental car....we certainly don't need everyone to have their own car. Hopefully we can make a decision soon, so we can get the reservations made before too long.

Everyone....Please do not stay at any hotels near the airport. They are not good hotels and not a good location.
A decent hotel near a bunch of restaurants/shops etc in our swanky west end is ALOFT RICHMOND WEST, 3939 Duckling Dr, Glen Allen, VA. It's pet friendly and about 30 minutes from Rockwood Park. It has great reviews and there is a dog park not even 5 minutes around the corner. There is a big open grassy area next to the hotel and it's across the street from a huge outdoor dog friendly mall. Its a very dog friendly location!

Also, no fret, I can definitely point everyone (or be a tour guide) to all the good stuff in the area...I'm specifically good for all the great eateries and drinkeries (Alison) hahahahaha....

It's about 25 minutes from the airport, but it's all the interstate....just hop on right near the airport, hop off right near that hotel...and trust me, you WANT to get away from the airport area 🙂
I think that area is great for everyone, and I told Sally I'd scope the dog park out this week...I think it may even hold all of us for the party 🙂

THANK YOU ELIZABETH!!! SOUNDS PERFECT! And I do actually know where this is and it really is a great location and accessible to a variety of "things to do and see". AND there is a STARBUCKS within five minutes! 🙂
And THANK YOU MICHELLE AND KARMA for also coming up with a great looking dog friendly hoise for rent!!! I'm not familiar at all with the area so I'll have to ask Elizabeth for her insight! Need to check on the proximity of a STARBUCKS though! 🙂
It may be that we'll get enough interest that we'll need both sites for people who want to stay overnight! How great would that be??!!

Oh my that house is cute! I know nothing of that location other than it's not close, and there is not much out there. Just keep in mind also, anything between Richmond and the ocean is going to be a mad house that weekend as far as traffic is concerned. The interstate that runs between is generally packed and usually very very slow especially memorial day weekend.

Hey all! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can come this year! My biggest concern is cost :/ Its a good 6 hour drive or more for me, and now between my roommate and I we have 5 dogs lol. So logistics for me will be tough. Money has been incredibly tight this past year, but if I can make it happen I will.

Domino had his left front leg amputate on May 13th 2014 after being hit by a car. He's now living a happy healthy life on three legs :)
