So friends ... I've been looking at the weather app on my phone ... and it shows that it gets a tad chilly in the evenings ... last night I think my phone said 45 degrees. Well, Jasper and I are southern CA girls so that is a tad nippy for us! Shall we bring a heavy coat? At least for me ... I actually think Jasper prefers the cooler temps as she's mostly black and actually has a thicker coat. smiley

Really hoping to try and pack a carry-on so any insight would be great. If it doesn't hit 70, it's not shorts weather for me! way-cool

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

And ps - won't the cooler temps mean it will be too cold for snakes, ticks and other mysterious wildlife bugs we don't have here on the west coast?

Oh, the cooler temperatures just mean they'll be extra hungry!!! And besides, they wear coats and mittens if it gets too cold 🙂 🙂 🙂

Yeah, our weather has been quite whacky the past several days for this time of year!

It should be a "normal" weather weekend by pawty time and that means upper 70's, low 80's!

Stick to your carry on. Elizabeth and I can bring a couple of jackets if we need to ....talking about for the mosquitoes and snakes and ticks!! 🙂

Ha Sally!

Aluson, an evening low of 50 isn't going to bother the daytime activities of snakes and bugs.  But Sally is right, the east coast just had a cool front go through.  And actually, sitting in Las Vegas, I heard Friday was 100, and when I got in Saturday it was 80s, but Sunday was like a high of 55-60.

Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury.  Her amp was on 10/1/12.  She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera.  We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.

Ha ha!!!

But seriously - is the house area seriously cooler? I know that drill. My office is usually around 100 in the summer but it might be 70 -80 at the coast where I live ... 23 miles difference. either way ... I'll pack layers and pants. Too bad ... I was hoping to work on my suntan but if it's below 75, that is simply too chilly for me! laughing

Alison you crack me up. Virginia weather is schizophrenic this time of year, I wouldn't count on anything you read online until about a week before. I know that's not helpful for planning, but I'd pack a sweatshirt at least. The weather "so far" is looking pretty nice that weekend. Snakes, birds, bugs and all other critters are a bit frisky right now, 'tis the season for love. I had a grey horned owl and a barn owl out hooting and hollering the other night.

Is the house in the woods? If so, I do suggest bug spray...ticks are especially bad right now. Its actually not a bad time of year for mosquitos and the other high humidity southern buggers, but that may be a different story in the woods.

When thankfully I have recruited three professional "tick removers" to be on tick patrol for Jasper Lily.... as for me ... I guess I'll check each time!

As far as the house in the woods ... that there is nothing near by indicates to me that it is pretty rural and out in the woods but I've gotten the lovely nickname of "hollywood" from my house friends so this might not be as rural as one would think. I'll definitely bring layers and a sweatshirt!

I do hope I hear some owls or other nature that is not of the bug / snake variety! I love nature ... I really do!

And Sally ... LOL .. I am sure they are "more scared of me than I of them "... but I'll be sure to watch where we step at all times! I am pretty sure Jasper - a city dog and a beach city do at that - will be overwhelmed by all the new scents, sounds and sights! Oh to see the world through her eyes for just a day! She might actually prefer it to city living. big-blink

Can't help myself. Any excuse to keep bumping this thread up I can find, I'll use!!

Elizabeth, here's the arrival info for Teri you wanted. And btw...Sarah stayed at this particular hotel when she had DC Jack's amputation done at Helping Hands and gave it a very high rating!

"Okie-dokie! I'm all booked, arrive in Richmond at 2:46 pm on the 26th and I have a reservation at the Hampton Inn on Research Road - two beds so if anyone wants to share it's available."

Da Bear HQ (including Bunny in Charge) would love to attend the Event of the Century. However, one of Da Bears will be going to Da Vet School just days prior and/or after: we would like to ask for pawsitivity at that time from all of you (if, you know, you aren't getting arrested or thrown off or rebooked on an airplane...ahem...) We do, however, expect many updates, a dog to volunteer to wear the Google Map 360 headgear, a dog to volunteer to wear the live stream cam, and a dog to tweet...and at least one arrest...cough, cough ....Clare? Meg?!?! I mean, the humans will be busy with...the PAWTY of the Century so we expect as much hell raising as possible for those of us stuck in hospital!!! (Or jail:whichever comes first;)
