Oh gosh, sorry to hear about the lung mets. Izzy has been taking palladia and it has really kicked her MCT's @ss! Unfortunately, I don't have much to share regarding palladia for lung mets - Izzy didn't show any prior to starting treatment and the vet did't see any on the chest film she had today.
Feel free to pick my brain about the drug in general ... happy to help if I can!

Momma to the world's most beautiful American Bulldog, Izzy!! Lost her front leg to OSA 9/18/15. Diagnosed w MCT in June 2016. Celebrated her 1 year ampuversary with knee surgery on 9/18/16! MCT recurrence in Dec 2016. Happy & hungry til nearly 14, earning her wings on 7/31/17.
Otis has officially been on Palladia for one week. The last two days he has seemed a bit "down," although I also have to admit that I had long days at work, so maybe he was just ready for bed by the time I got home. Ran home over lunch to check on him - he greeted me at the door (normal), but immediately went back to his dog bed after outside and seemed just down. (Not really lethargic, just "down"). I have noticed some indigestion - did a midnight feeding last night to make sure he had food in his stomach. Called in a refill of Cerenia - might try Pofi's approach of one the night of each Palladia tablet, because I do not think the Pepcid alone is enough. Eating well and drinking perhaps a bit more water than normal. Cleaned the yard, and found two partially formed, partially squishy poos. (Yep, just like a new mom - talking about poo consistency in public).
So, feeling a little bummed. Want to keep him on Palladia until we get to the one month x-ray point and can find out if it is working. But do not want him to spend the rest of his life feeling blah or with indigestion. It was easier with the carbo - I figured out when in the cycle to give the Cerenia, and then he had time to recover before the next treatment. Looking forward to the weekend when I can observe him more closely.

When I found the squishy poo at lunch, I gave him a metro. Left work early, and delighted that he now seems much more normal. Even went out and delivered a perfectly formed poop. So, I guess our problem is a #2 problem (and perhaps partially stress related due to his normal aversion to going in the house). Half day of work tomorrow, and then three days to keep a closer eye on him!

Metronidazole will firm up the poop for sure! Izzy had a week of that when she started having the runs on her "on" days. We slid her back to every third day and - knock on wood - that is keeping the trots at bay. Izzy slowed down a bit while on it so don't be alarmed.
Keep us posted!!!

Thanks for letting me know. I was melting down a bit thinking that Otis would be feeling not great for the rest of his life and was that fair to him to prolong his life a few months. Feeling much better now that he is acting more normally. (And thinking that I would be pretty down too if I had that problem and no bathroom I could get to,)

Otis doing much better today - I ran home mid-morning and he was his normal, active (ok, he had been on the sofa for three hours, but that is normal for him). So, looks like maybe the metro is the miracle drug!

He is tearing around the house like nothing is going on now. I'm almost wondering why I was so worried.

Just super.....glad you found the magic ingredient. Pofi seems a bit more blah without the Cerenia these last few Palladia days and he sometimes has softer poo, but not always. Wonder if I should try the Metro? Definitely getting Cerenia again.
Go Otis!!

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
Shea just started Palladia today. She will take her next dose on Saturday. From what I have read here it seems the biggest side effect is the stomach upset. I picked up the prescription for the cerenia today. I'm just wondering when to give it. I don't want her to feel sick so normally I'd give it for a few days for prevention. But the cerenia is a lot more expensive then the zofran so I really don't want to give it if she doesn't need it. Would love to hear other thoughts.
