Hi Jackie- I reduced your picture a bit (through my magic moderator powers!)  He's still very handsome though!

And actually I've only done one Tripawd at a time although my other dog (I usually have two dogs at a time) has 'filled in' by being somewhat of handfuls themselves smiley4

We have had several people here who have done multiple Tripawds at the same time- two of my local Nor Cal Crew have had as many as 3 at a time!

I play the treat game with Elly outside sometimes- it makes her look a little harder with all the distracting smells to sort through.  We also do the sport of Nose Work which is where I learned how really tiring scent games can be.

Day 4- a bit of bruising but no swelling and no discharge. I woke up to her happily barking at possums and a big appetite. I’ve given her a tramadol this morning just to slow her down a bit-  she’s always been a very hyper girl and as great as it is to see her getting back to herself i think you are all right and calm is key!

we are in Melbourne but out in a semi rural area which is lovely. Lucy usually has long walks and lots of swims in the lake but we are just going to take it one day at a time for her recovery. We meet the oncologist Friday and hopefully she starts cheamo. We are hoping that because she is so young and healthy It will give her a lot more time. Seeing the difference in her pre and post amputation has been incredible the cancer really must be so painful 😔.

she eats dry food ( royal canin) and kangaroo meat ( sounds yuck I know but it’s high protein so is used a lot for pets here). Once things have settled a bit I’ll start looking into supplements that are here or can be shipped in but from what I’ve read Glucosamene is the main one she’ll need?

thank you again everyone for your support, sometimes the internet is great!

Hi, Lucy is beaitiful. I had a Lucy years ago but she was a poodle.

I have been to Sydney, and it is beautiful. My favorite part was the Rain Forest how all the cockatoos were flying around free instead of in a cage.

It's great that Lucy is doing so well, and I am sure it's going to get even better!

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

Yes,  slow and steady wins the race 💖

I can't give any advice on the supplements because i think some here can help you better with the cancer factor involved.

Im on Eastern daylight savings time so it's a little after 530 on Saturday here.  I know Sydney is about 12 hours ahead of me so today may be Sunday for you.

I am so glad that both of you are feeling better.  Hang in  there,  the light away the end of the tunnel is getting brighter 💖💖💖

I would look at the Nutition blog on this site. There is the K9 immuniy that is cancer fighting mushrooms. It comes in a powder to mix in their food or in a treat form.  There is also Apocaps . The dose for Brownie at 75 lbs was 9 pills a day. It seems to upset his stomach so I cut it to six pills a day and he has done fine. I also believe they help with dogs on chemo. He also gets joint supplement and CBD. I know it seems lime a lot but you soon get a routine going.

There is a book "the dog cancer survival guide" that has tons of good information in it including recipes for dogs with cancer.

Some vets we have interviewed suggest waiting on glucosamine until dogs present symptoms, to prevent them building up a resistance. Most agree that fish oil is very important to help prevent issues. Find many helpful recommendations in the Tripawds Nutrition blog .

Thank you so much everyone. Day 9 and she is eating pooping and very happy again. We have just left her for her first round of Cheamo, it all seems so overwhelming when they talk about prognosis but I think I need to stop thinking about time and just embrace that we are doing the best we can for her and that she loves her life. The oncologist told me she has seen a 6 month old pup with it before, broke my heart.

Anyways thank you again so much for your help everyone xx

Yesssss! That's what we call learning to Be More Dog

A prognosis is scary but it's not written in stone. Many dogs will thrive despite the worst prognosis and all we can do is our best to help them do it. The most important thing though, is to remember that no matter what our dogs want us to be happy and enjoying every day, every moment, and making the most of it as they do. You're doing that, good for you!

Oh as for the kangaroo meat, it's something that is also sold here in the states so we're used to the idea. Many dogs eat it because they react poorly to things like chicken and beef.

EXACTLY!! This is how you kick that nasty disease to the curb by not letting it interfere  with the glorious time you have with your sweet Lucy!    Lucy sure isn't  worried about a thing!

A little late to the '"welcome", but just in time to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! Pooping, eating, drinking, moving through recovery  like a Champ!

As far as "prognosis"...we say prognosis-schmognosis! We say that because every dog is different and, most importantly,  they do NOT listen to any ole' doctor opinion and certainly  do not count days on a calendar!  Good thing Pug Maggie didn't  look at prognosis.  She was "told"  6 - 9 months and passed four years later from something  different.  We have many, many "Victory Dogs/Vats around here ro help inspire  you.

Yes, continue  to love in the moment,  live in the now, make every moment be the best moment  ever! Be More Dog .....Be More Lucy❤   Suggest downloading  Rene and Jim's book Be More Dog (ebook here or amazon).

Stay connected and update when uou can... with pictures and more success stories!

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Hi, I am so happy Lucy is doing well. Brownie diagnoses was three  months. In one more week it will be 8 months. We just take it day by day.

As Sally saids, no one has a date stamped on their but!
