Gosh Mali you big yuppy puppy are you trying to make us jealous?!? We don't even have a doggy oncologist in this city, let alone a PT, acupuncture, chiropractor, rehab or water treadmill (water treadmill, for dogs or even for humans???). Oh well. Some dogs have to just be dogs. Treadmill or no treadmill, I'm sure Mali's muscles will develop. It is amazing how much they develop. Tazzie had the same over extension problem with his remaining front leg at the start (and other problems due to bad hips at the back end). But by week 6 or 8 he was fantastic with a few new and weird muscles (and a super-sized neck on his surgery side for what that is worth - not sure if that is typical or not). Sure wish we had a place for dogs to swim in this city once it gets cold. In Florida - well, I'm pretty sure there are loads of places to swim year-round. Well, it sounds as though Mali is living the good life.

In Florida .. actually, there are not many places for the dogs. Yes, there is a small stretch of beach in ft. lauderdale and a dog park that has a lake that is enclosed (fenced in) for the dogs to swim and it's safe. But other than that .. have to be careful for alligators and some are just used for storm drainage and has waste water or road water run off (polluted). But that's about it for where dogs can swim safely, unless in the owner's pools. I have a pool and my guys won't go in it .. but a pond they will go in. Mali he doesn't like to swim .. he will play in the shallows, but that's about it. He can swim, but it has to be for a very good reason in his opinion or forget it.

I wish you had more options and specialty vets in your location. That stinks. Other than Joyce, who has a regular practice and the rehab clinic, there are very few places here that have that for dogs. That's why some people drive hours to see her.
