Hi,

Bear has his front right leg and 2 lymph nodes in his chest removed. It’s been 4 days since surgery and his front LEFT leg is swollen (edema). The vet took a look and said just to massage it. Blood samples were taken and they came out fine so no kidney issues. Bear is having a hard time walking on it and yelps if we touch his ankle. I took measurements to monitor the swelling and it looks bigger than yesterday for sure. Should I be alarmed or take him back to vet???

Hi Julia, please let your vet know. This isn’t uncommon and hopefully it’s not serious but it’s good to keep them in the loop.

Back in a bit with more feedback, keep us posted?

Yeah, as Jerry said, some swelling  happens  towards the remaining  limb as fluid is being absorbed.  But DEFINITELY  have your Vet take a look since it's pai ful and hampering  his moblity.

How does the incision  look?

Update when you can.  And let us know more about Bear when you get a chance.

Hugs
