Poor Zeuswhatever Lily and I are keeping you in our thoughts and wishing you a peaceful stomach soon.

Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.

Oh our Zeusy boy, We're so sorry you have been feeling so yucky!

Lylee started MP with Rimadyl (Carprofen), Cytoxan and later to add in Doxycycline but we didn't get that far.

She had already been on the Rimadyl for a number of months and had tolerated it well. Then we added in the Cytoxin and this also seemed to be okay. We did it for about 6 weeks but I didn't feel comfortable doing this until she had lung mets show up which they haven't. So we continued with her comprehensive holistic supplements.

I'm just saying all this as I agree the Rimadyl or other NSAIDs mentioned could be much better tolerated by Zeus. Plus it is a revelation to me about the hopping and having acid cause vomiting! I actually think this is happening with Lylee and her eating. Pepcid - yes!

Sending hugs!

Joanne & Lylee

Pepcid always worked well for Lupe who had a sensitive stomach and when taking a lot of meds, it got worse.

Hope Zeus is feeling better soon!!!

Sorry!  I got a bit distracted!

Zeus is much better, thank you so much for checking!  He only threw up once more after I posted on Wednesday, but you could tell he felt terrible.  After a day of chicken and rice he seemed to feel a bit better, so we added in his regular diet this morning.  So far so good....

Greg has been on a business trip since Tues and Zeus was so excited when Dad came home last night that he ran around the house donkey-kicking.  Yep, that's his thing for the last few months - when he gets really excited and runs he does this bounce-hop-run that causes his back feet to kick way up and out.  I swear he looks like a horse or donkey bucking...  It's great to see him feeling well enough to get excited again.

Thank you again for checking on him.  Since he hasn't been sick in 48 hours, I'm supposed to give him the Cytoxan only and see how he does with it and to try and determine which one made him sick.  So nervous about it in case it was actually the Cyto that made him ill.

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Keep up that "donkey- kicking" and while you're at it, use those cute kicks to kick cancer's butt!

So glad Zeus is feeling better--lily sends stomach calming thoughts to Zeusbig-grin

Hee haw! Go Zeus!

I'm no vet but I'm going to bet it wasn't the cytoxan.

We hope you have a vomit-free weekend. Keep us posted!

Just came across this quote from Dr. Wiltzius about meloxicam versus peroxicam in metronomic chemo, thought you might be interested:

Most oncologists prefer meloxicam (Metacam) as the NSAID due to it’s wide safety range but a few still prefer piroxicam. There are 5 different chemo drugs that are being tried but the only one with research behind it (so far) for this use is Cytoxan (cyclophosphamide)

Hooray for donkey-kicking Zeus!

Let us know how it goes with just the Cytoxan. No more puking, Zeusy!!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman.
