My 1.5 years old cat had his front left leg amputated 2 days ago. He\'s been feeling significantly better since his surgery, eats an okay amount and I give him as much water/soup as he accepts throughout the day. He peed once, the morning after his surgery, but no signs of him wanting to urinate since then and it\'s been more than 24 hours. Shows no discomfort when I touch his belly. I\'m worried sick he has not peed in such a long time. How long is it normal post operation to not urinate?Thank you for your answers!

Hi Erika and kitty, welcome. Please consider registering as a member so your posts won't need to wait for approval.

What's the reason for the amputation? Sorry he had to have one!

Here's a post we just published that talks about this issue. It has a lot of good questions to ask yourself about his environment, and what might be causing it.

Usually if something in the cat's environment has changed, that will cause a cat to not want to use the litterbox. Putting things back to where they were often helps.

You don't want to let it go much longer, if he hasn't urinated by the time your vet's office opens I would let them know. Keep us posted!
