Agree, this is very early in the recovery, she'll get her sparkle back soon.
In the meantime by best advice to you is keep that medication schedule consistent and prevent her from jumping on furniture and getting too much activity. She could break the incision open, that's a real mess.
Hang in there, it won't last forever!

Just a last minute thought.
Is Belle wearing a tshirt to protect the incision?
My girl wore one 24/7 (changed as required, of course) until stitches came out.
Hugs and cuddles 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹
Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)
She is not active at all...she jumped only once onto the sofa because i was working sittin on it but stayed there for hours -even long after i left- She still does not know how to get off with only one front leg. Only when we called her for supper is when she left the couch but was not a good landing 🙁
And yes, she is wearing 24/7 her t-shirt from the hospital.
I wish there could be more i could do to help my best friend. And i hope this was the right decision and it's just 'normal' recovery. I guess we were expecting her in a better mood than pre-op because of the pain of the tumor being off but no.
OKAY, WE DO ABSOLUTELY HAVE SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE!!! BELLE WAS MOTIVATED ENOUGH TO RETURN TO HER ROUTINE OF HANGING OUT IN THE KITCHEN, EVEN IF WAS JUST A MINITE!!!!😁😁😁😁
Make no mistake about it, that seemingly little tiny spark was actually a huge brilliant sparkle!! Ya' see, every "little" improvement is a HUGE IMPROVEMENT!!!! AND WE CELEBRATE LIKE CRAZYMWHEN THESE THINGS HAPPEN!!😀
And even though Belle was a feisty naughty girl for getting on the sofa, YAY FOR GETTING UP ON THE SOFA!!!!!😁😁 ANOTHER VICTORY TO CELEBRATE!!! Now, that said, no jumping off the sofa yet Miss Belle. Front leggers do a few face plants in situations like that, so take it easy sweet gal!
I think I mentioned this before. It took me three weeks before I felt like I could say I did this FOR my Happy Hannah and not TO her!! Your Belle's previous pain leg was a different kind of "hurt" that comes from amputation surgery. Once the pain from the surgerynitself subsides and all the muscles adjust to the three legged gait, she'll feel so much better.
Cheering for you Belle!!!
Hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
PS. Resting, sleeping a lot...all good right now.
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Yes, Bella has just been though major surgery. If it was a human they'd still have is in a hospital on a morphine drip.
Eat, sleep, rest, medicine, quick potty breaks, repeat. She needs to be still and heal. No jumping, running, just rest. The less she moves around the better right now.
Patience is a virtue, soon this will all be behind her but for now spoil your baby like she was a new born. She'll thank you for it later.
❤️❤️
Hugs,
Jackie, Bo, Andy, Oscar, Phoebe, and the coolest feral tripawd kitty Huckleberry
Ditto to Sally and Jackie, Belle needs lots of rest and TLC.
And pay special attention she doesn’t jump off the couch on her own, she could hurt herself in the process...
You will both get there, recovery does not last forever !!!
Hugs and cuddles 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Oh but you ARE! You are asking good questions and coming here for support. Staying pawsitive and optimistic goes much further than you think it does. She will get there, just give it time.

Thanks for all your love and support!
Belle is still huffing and puffing. 🙁
Vet surgeon suspects its a side effect of the Gabapentin she is taking since it targets the nervous system and was effective for her condition (nerve tumor) before the amputation and we saw no side effects then but now that her nerve is gone, we are seeing this panting. So she said to reduce the dose to 2 x day.
Belle was very happy today to hop to greet her grandparents that came over, and jumped on the couch again to be by their side. ...she is still now on the couch, not sure she has figured it out how to get off. 🙁 We'll try to assist.
Oh no, Belle, you cheeky girl, you didn't get back on that couch again 😳🙄🤭
Well, Mom, it seems your girl is going to keep you busy assisting her to get down from HER couch 🛋 ...
At least this shows you how happy she is to get back to her routines 😉

Despite a night with panting and heavy breathing, Belle had a better day! She's been a good girl: no jumping on couch, resting most of the day and the BIG thing is that she was with us during all supper time, as our previous 'usual'; that's my Belle! 🤗🙃😍😀
Wheeee! That is such great news, it's good to know her sparkle's coming back!

PS One thought. Perhaps "some" of the panting is from the bandage sleeve. Looks like it could ake her feel quite hot on a summer day.
