Congratulations Tehya! You did it!

One month is a very big deal, you should be so proud of yourself. And your Mom too, we know she worked just as hard as you did at recovering.

Thank you for sharing this great news, we needed it today. Please let us know how the appointment goes. We'll be thinking of you, and sending pawsitive energy your way.

Tehya,

Dad would just would not let me get to the computer yesterday to tell you how glad we all are at reaching the one month mark. Something about being too tough emotionally.  He always says that ever day together is a very special day, but when you reach such a great milestone it is time for PAWRTY! He assures me that he will be better tomorrow so we plan to take our usual "Valley Ride". We both feel very close to each other during these trips, but I know that he will be giving a toast to you and your family at this great day. I hope that you had special treats, extra hugs, did something very special, and may be – - – ICE CREAM!!!

Judging from you posting, I would say that the worst of the chemotherapy is over but one thing that we have learned is "no two patients react the same." In addition to the evil taste, I always felt cold after completing my chemotherapy. I have heard that from many humans as well, but that is why Dad knitted me all those sweaters. I also seemed to catch a lot of "bugs" after the chemo. Dad says that many appear to have a serious set back to their immune system after chemotherapy so make sure everyone takes good care.

We will be looking forward to hearing about many more ampuverseries. I will be thinking of you when you reach your two month, but Mom and Dad will be in Maui watching the humpback whales. Did you know that there is not quarantine restrictions for Spirits. I get to go along this time!!!

Well we went for my one month ultrasound and chest x-ray today and the results weren't as good as we hoped. Last month when I got my first one I had an enlarged sternal lymph node and several nodules within my liver. Today's test show that they have all grown in size. Dr. Ford told my pawrents that it is not really bad news as I am still feeling so good but it is definitely something that we have to monitor closely. When the lab reports come back on my bloodwork my chemo doseage might have to be increased just to slow this nasty disease down. My poor Mom did not take this well and was crying I was trying to let her know that I'm not ready to cross the bridge yet and to please just enjoy one day at a time with me. I am so happy not to be in the pain from my leg anymore and my tail keeps wagging so I am going to hang in there for as long as I can. I do love getting those perogies every morning and if I need to take more pills that's ok I just more treats!

Talk to you in a few more days with the results of the lab work!

Oh Tehya, try not to let your mom take it so hard. The problem with us humans is we do silly things like hope and expect. Do your best to keep reminding here that every day is a great day, no matter what life throws your way.

I'm so sorry Tehya's results were not what you were expecting nor hoping for. I'm glad to hear Tehya continues to do well, though. Hopefully the bloodwork comes back fine. Definitely keeping you guys in our thoughts!!

I am still waiting for the written report from the oncologist however her assistant called yesterday and told us that she is on the maximum dosage that she can have. The other day I was in total shock as I didn't expect to hear the news so quickly that those dreaded mets were growing. However thanks to the wonderful support from this website I am trying so very hard to stay pawsitive and enjoy every minute with my precious Tehya. She is still so active and eating very well so I hoping that she will be with us for awhile yet! My sister found this website while surfing before Tehya had her operation and I must say it was the best thing that could have ever happened. The caring support from everyone is something that helps me everyday to get through this emotional rollercoaster ride.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Darlene (Tehya's Mom).

Darlene, we too are shocked and saddened, that kind of news is heartbreaking. But we see you're already taking Tehya's lead and just living life as always; with love, fun and a focus on the present moment. What else is there, right?

We send our love and hopes that she defies the odds for a long, long time. Thank you for being here as well, because in so many ways you are helping others too as you walk this journey.

Darlene and Tehya

Very sorry to hear your news. We also got news about mets at what 'should have' been early in Tazzie's journey, at 8 weeks post amputation. Bummer. Whenever the lab reports came in, I'd feel down and start to grieve. Thank goodness for Tazzie. I'd feel horrible until we went to the park later in the day where he would romp like a crazed madman, usually harder on the days when I got the worse news. That would immediately turn things around and cheer me up. This happened again and again during the last few months. Good thing we haven't taught our dogs to read, eh?!? Keep wagging that tail, Tehya!

Hi everyone, I haven't had time to post for the last liitle while as I have been glued to the TV. Congratulations first of all to the US athletes you are doing amazing! Me well I have been struggling for the past couple of days. I didn't get sick from the chemo but yesterday my Mom noticed that my front paw was bleeding and on a closer look it appears that one of my nails has split. That must be what is so sore! So for the past two days I haven't been to active. I have been spending a lot of time on my Dad's knee watching TV or sleeping on my bed. I go back to see the oncologist on the 25th so have all paws crossed that things have slowed down somewhat for me. I am hoping that I feel better tomorrow as we are having the warmest weather in 100 years so I would like to be able to get out and play some more street hockey with the kids down the street. That is before the big Olympic hockey game in the afternoon!
I have posted some pictures on my blog if you would like to see how my new haircut is coming in I must say I am looking very pretty for a girl my age!icon_lol

Tehya,

We have been wondering how things were going since the last we had seen was not as encouraging as we would have liked. I is not hard for me to remember that you will be comming up on a two month ampuversary and just because this February does not have sufficient days is NO EXCUSE not to PAWRTY. We will be in Maui so we may not see the initial posting of the ampuversary, but we will be feeling it and will search for it the first opportunity.

For the very first time, I posted a more detailed description of what Miss Cherry was faced with at the time of her initial diagnosis. It was far worse than what you may first assume. In addition to the Osteosarcoma, she had a growth on one of her kidneys and they suspected that the other was non-functional. Since I would not subject her to additional surgery to "explore", we will never be sure just what this growth was. It did burst and Miss Cherry had huge quantities of blood in her urine for a week. There was the possibility that this was the Osteosarcoma metastasizing but luckily her lungs were still clean. Thus, it looked pretty bleak during those first two months, but you know the end of the story. Those two months were followed with eleven wonderful months and while she still had some downs to go along with the ups, it was a great trip.

This is meant to be encouragement for you as you face some tough times. During a recient chat with Jim and Rene, I said that "one just has to go for it – you may win the lottery!" Of course, I never play the real lottery because all my good luck was used with Miss Cherry. No one really know when or how this journey will end, but you should enjoy every day together and remain as positive as possible. It worked for us.

Bob, thank you so much for sharing Cherry's original diagnosis! She did amazingly well for such a long time when you read of what she had to go through she truly is an amazing spirit and Tehya is very lucky to have an angelon her shoulder ( I will always continue to believe that is the case as they share a special date).
I try so hard to remain positive and with the support of this site it sometimes is very easy and then when you read that another beautiful dog has crossed over the bridge it makes me very sad.
I will think of you and your family on the 29th I know Cherry's spirit will be in Maui with you enjoying the sun and sand.

Aloha and thank you once again for your kind words of encouragement.

Darlene (Tehya's Mom).

I'm sorry to hear the lab reports were not good.  Treasure each day, as I'm sure you will.  There will be plenty of time to grieve later.  Celebrate Tehya now.
