Roane is home and resting!!!! So relieved to have her back. Getting her out of the SUV and into the house was a bit of a challenge. Thank goodness for my husbands bestfriend who helped carry her in the house!

Lots of rest and love tonight and a week of pampering with dad. ❤❤❤

My sweet soulmate Roane was diagnosed with osteo in June of 2019. Had a rear leg amp on July 2nd & crossed the rainbow bridge to be with her sister Gypsy on the first day of Autumn Sept 23 2019.

HOME SWEET HOME!!!!

Now she still has some good hospital  pajn meed kn jer, so HOPEFULLY you'll have a fairly quiet night...maybe.  Then again, she may be quite restless.  Every recovery  is different.

What pain meds did they send her home with?  Usually  it's  Gabapentin,  Tramadol, Rinadyl and an antibiotic.   You may have to tweak the doses and the timing once the hospital  ,Ed's are out of jer system,  and as directed  by your Vet.

She may not poop for a few days and may not be hungry  (although  my Hapoh Hannah never missed a meal).  Peeing and drinking are important though.

Stay connected  and let us know how things are going.

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thanks for the support Sally Yes definitely some good hospital meds still hanging around. Couldnt get the feet organized 😉 sleeping like a log now, getting out of the car was big work!

She was originally on 600 mg gabapentin and 100 mg carprofen twice a day. They said keep giving her that and added 6 500mg cephalexin twice a day.

The vet that did the surgery also xrayed the leg again after the fact and said she definitely fractured it when she fell. Just reinforce that we made the right call.

Sounds like you have a good handle on the pain meds, etc,  And yeah, "sleeping like a log", is a good thing right now.  I'm  sure she feels like her feet are not connected  to her brain right now 😉    Qnf she may bed in the bed, vut, again, she may not feel like her brain is connected  to her bladder right now😉

OMD!!   A fractured leg???  OUCH!!!!   Definately rhe right call!!!  So glad you were able to get the surgery sooner!!!!   Good job!

Gice Roane a big smooch on her beautiful  mug for us and give Nurse  Moe an good ear scratch for is😎

GREAT NEWS! But OMD poor baby with the leg fracture. Dogs are so stoic. Yikes.

Well yep sounds like the pain management is gonna be alright for her. If not, don't hesitate to let your vet know. Watch for pain signals and give them a call if it seems like the meds need fine tuning.

If you have any questions you can always ask us, or call the Tripawds Helpline OK?

We are so happy she's home! Give her some extra lovin' from all of us. Welcome to the club Roane!

Brownie just wanted to let Roane know that belly rubs are Soooo much better when you are a tripawd! Get well soon!

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

Roane was a little more alert after her nap. Not a big fan of the water dish but definatly a big fan of chicken, rice and spinach. Mom cheated and added extra water and chicken broth 😉

then we had a nice potty outside that was a bit of an adventure. Took me, my husband and my daughters boyfriend to get her there and keep her upright. And of course nurse moe!

Other than a bit of whinning she seems to be doing well.

Ps. We took brownies advice about the belly rub and we felt much less whiney now 😉

Eating already? And pee potty already??  Great news!!

And yes, as Brownie said,  belly rubs are much better .....especially with easier access with that fourth useless leg out of the way!!😉😉
