Wheeeeee! Doing something that was once so difficult for him, without any bribes, is a huge leap forward. Yeah!

Have you tried "serpentine curb walking" with him? That's where you walk him alongside a curb and guide him up and down the curb repeatedly, kinda like in little "S" shapes, as he walks alongside it. The movement is a little thing that we can do to build strength and flexibility, and was recommended to me last week by an ortho vet. Ask your rehab therapist about it when you go just to make sure it's OK for Riot. I know that for Wyatt it's a good exercise and also adds some interest into an otherwise routine walk.

I also got him back on his couch using the Flagline . He's only jumped up once since the surgery, and was very nervous about it. I'm trying to build his confidence about being off the ground.

That's a really cool idea. I hadn't heard about it. I'll ask on Saturday. If she okays it, I'll look around for safe sidewalks. The road I live off of is way too busy for that.

Don't you love having a handle on him? Haha I love the harnesses we carry just for that reason. It makes our Wyatt into a purse dog! 😉

Yeah let me know what the therapist says. You can also do that game with parking space dividers, but have him step over them, back and forth, back and forth.

I do love the handle. I'll let everyone know how PT goes. He has has a vet visit for his post chemo check, and to look at a lump on his foot, and a couple black spots. That's Thursday.

Thanks, Bev. I'm going to try and get more photos if the sun ever comes back. We're waiting on results on a fluid biopsy we had done on a lump he developed on his remaining back foot. We got it done today, and should hear back by Saturday. The vet wasn't terribly comforting, which I can understand, but it's making me nauseous. Thankfully it does have some squish to it, and he doesn't seem to have any pain in the area. Finger's crossed.

Riot's lump is a spindle cell tumor of some type. As it's on his remaining back foot, surgery isn't an option. I'll hopefully find out more on Monday when his oncologist gets in.

Well darnit! I'm sorry. Don't panic though (easy for me to say, I know!). You still need to get feedback from your onco vet, and there may be options to treat it. And of course remember, Riot is still the same dog, and he wants to make the most of every minute with you.

While you wait for the consult, you may want to learn more about electrochemotherapy and intralesional chemotherapy, both of which are non-surgical treatments widely used in other countries but not so much in the U.S. These two treatments have helped Tripawds we personally know who had  tumors on remaining limbs. You'll find links to their stories in the blog posts.

Give that handsome boy a giant smooch from us. We are sending lots of love!

Geez Riot! Did you not think your were getting enough attention so you had to go and get a lump?  I must say, you had us all fooled.  Was not expecting  this.

There ARE things than can certainly  be done IF removing  the bump, or some of it, is not an option.   Of course I can't  recall specifics, but I know radiation, combined with Prednisone and an antihistamine have had a very favorable outcome.

So discuss everything  with the Onco so you can move forward with a plan.  Even when I take notes, I still end up being confused and end up with more questions!  So maybe video uour consult to review later.

Hang in there!  Riot is one tuff dude!
