Maggie is my happy 7 year old black lab who is at this very moment recovering in the ICU after a front leg amputation today for a hemangiosarcoma. She had a failed skin graft in September which left her with a non-healing gaping wound. After 4 months of confinement and wound care the likelihood of amputation became inevitable. After I happened across Tripawds.com I was given the hope and encouragement to make this decision for Maggie. Now with 3 legs she can be more whole than she has been in months. I now pray for a speedy peaceful recovery and look forward to watching her run like the wind again!
Michelle
Maggie Moo will be in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. I can't imagine what you have gone through these past four months, but so glad to hear you decided to go amputation. Dogs are so adaptable...you will be amazed how quickly Maggie Moo will bounce back and she will enjoy a happy life again soon.

Is this the Maggie that responded to Bud's picture on the Tripawds FB page?
If so, I am glad you found your way to forums!
Bud is an amputee due to a fractured femur due to a failed hip replacement and MRSA bone infection.
He spent time in ICU also and it was heart wrenching for us.
That was 2 years ago and he is now a hopping healthy boy!
So Michelle, do hold hope in your heart!
Since Maggie has had pain and probable limited use of that leg, I bet she will be hopping soon!
Sending healing wishes!
Bud's mom
Speedy recovery, Maggie Moo! You're a dear and so darn cute! You're gonna love life on 3 limbs. That other one was totally getting in the way of your style! Keep us posted!! We're here to help, cheer, and support. YEY, Maggie!
ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
Just was wondering how Maggie and you are doing. I hope the recovery is going well and Maggie is adjusting to her life on three legs. Let us know how you both are doing. You are in my thoughts.
