Thank-you all for your warm welcome.

Sally & Happy Hannah, Checkers is on Tramadol, Neurontin for nerve pain and Peroxicam. I think that her pain is well managed and yes, the meds do make her a bit loopy and I think more needy or maybe she's just taking advantage of my massages and kisses. Yup, I think that's it, she's playing me but that's okay. I imagine right now she feels vulnerable and wants to make sure that we are nearby which we are.

I feel like I am taking care of an infant. We're taking turns watching over her and I sneak out of the room when she is asleep. When she wakes up she looks around for us and starts whining.

Katy & Jackson, I took your advice, I had a friend stop in yesterday to say hello to Checkers. My friend Sue is one of Checkers' favorite people and she certainly was excited for the visit. And thank-you for the reminder on traction . We have hard wood floors and area rugs so we've had to move things around a bit so that she has a doesn't have to walk on the hard wood. We also have Pawz rubber booties. We used them for my male Golden Wilson who has a toe amp 1 1/2 years ago due to malignant melanoma. Thankfully after receiving a series of vaccines at the Angell he is cancer free (or at least we think so).

Linda and Tucker, thank-you for your warm welcome. I hope to get to know all of your and read your stories. This community has been so helpful. Without a visit here, I'm not sure we'd have chosen to amputate and we'd have faced an otherwise grim outcome.

Luanne and Spirit Shooter, you're right, that Golden optimism will help get us through this!

Thank-you again.

Betty & Checkers
