Hi Pals! Firstly - thank you Jerry G Dawg for changing the size of my pic so that I can upload my avatar. Mommy struggled for weeks to do that...:))
Oh I had such a wonderful time on the beach. Mommy was very emotional - it brought back memories of when I still had my 4 legs. Grandpa would take us (me, Abby and Diana) to the beach and we would run untill we were only small little spots on the beach. Grandpa would whistle only once and we would run back. Me in front (I am the pack leader) and Abby and Diana following me - they could never outrun me, I was waaaayyyyy to fast for them!
Saturday I had to go alone, because I will not be able to keep up with Abby and Diana, but I still had a pretty good time. I fell out of the car when mommy opened the door - I was a bit too excited and my healthy front leg couldnt take the impact when I landed - I had such a fright that I jumped back in the car. But you know what - It wasnt that bad, because by the time I got onto the soft beach sand, I was hopping and running and smelling everything and just having a fun time!
Pitty you guys couldnt join me - I think we would have had wonderful time!
(Mommy passed her exams with flying colours - she only has one year left before she graduates and is very excited about it!) Thanks for asking Zeus!
Will catch up with you again soon!
Lotsa licks and lotsa love, Dee xxx
Hey Dee, glad to hear you're back on the beach.
I'm glad you were OK after falling out of the car. What a scare! My Mom knows exactly how your Mom felt, I've had my share of stumbles. She tries not to panic over things like that, it's very scary for her.
I used to run for miles on the beach too, in Northern California (we had off-leash beaches, very rare in California). The first time we went back after my surgery, Mom was freaking out. I think that first visit was only about 20 minutes. But it was enough for Mom and Dad to know that they did the right thing with my surgery. For even though I didn't run quite as far or as fast, I still had a GREAT time eating kelp and digging in the sand.
Congratulations on your Mom's success too!
xoxo

Hi Pals! Mommy is still trying to sort out my video of me hopping on the beach, but promised to do it this weekend... So, keep ya paws crossed for her to figure out how to do it! Everytime mommy looks at the video, she realises that having this operation was the best thing she could do for me.
Mommy is not very happy about my weight - grandma is feeding me too much food and I am getting FAT... I dont mind eating so much - I loooovveeeee my new diet - but I know that the excess weight will put more strain on my healthy legs! I hope grandma listens to mommy!
I am hoping for some sun again this weekend because mommy promised to take me to the beach again. This time we are not staying that long - I was really very very tired after my previous beach adventure! (And this time mommy will make sure that I dont fall out of the car again!)
Lotsa licks and lotsa love, Dee xxx
Hey Dee, I know what you mean about gaining weight. I gained a lot after my surgery, because 1) I was getting less exercise, and 2) the cottage cheese, while really really good for me, was making me gain weight. Mom and Dad cut back a little on it, from about 3/4 cup to 1/3 cup, and it seemed to help stabilize my weight.
Yes, try to convince your grandma that you are just like older folks, you can't eat as much as you used to anymore. Good luck.
And have fun at the beach!
xoxo Jerry

Hi Dee - thanks for the update...you look beautiful baby! My mommy is so happy to hear that your mommy passed her tests with flying colors - YEAH!!!
Stumbles are bound to happen...I take chin dives on the stairs and then I circle round and round trying to get my bearings again...mom just encourages me and TRIES not to baby me too much...especially when it comes to moving around.
Your mom is right...weight control is very, very important - we can't get around as easily if our weight is too high...even though we can't take super long walks anymore, mom tries to walk me 3 times a day for 20 min so I still get at least an hour in each day. It helps...plus I have more veggies in my diet which I think helps as well.
Have fun on your next adventure to the beach 🙂
Love ya
Zeus

Thanks for putting my picture up Jerry! (Thanks for the compliment) The only thing wrong with that picture is not having my tripawd pals in it! South Africa has beautiful beaches to play on! I think we would have had such a fun time! Zeus - I will follow your suggestion of taking short frequent walks to build my strength and keep the weight down...
I had a very relaxing weekend. Rolling and laying on the grass while the sun was shining and sleeping on my grandparents' bed when it was raining outside... Oh how I wish it was summer again!!
Hope you had a wonderful and relaxing weekend and that you are all still doing well!
Lotsa licks and lotsa love, Dee xxx
My Mom says she thought of you this weekend Dee, when her friend was showing her photos of her trip to South Africa, during an internship at a marine biology institute. It looks SO beautiful there. Elephants galore too! And those sunsets...wow, are you lucky!
Glad to hear you had a nice weekend. I did too!

Hi Jerr, mommy's been busy with studies and that is why she hasnt had much time to check on your website for news... But just to let you know, I am doing great and still hanging in there - no still LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST 3 months post amputation! 🙂 Yes, South Africa is beautiful, from beautiful beaches with dolphins & whales to beautiful sunsets with elephants, giraffes and Lions! I live in Cape Town with Table Mountain as one of the prettiest and most visited tourist attractions in the WORLD! :)) Thanks for thinking of me - we all feel really honoured and proud to have friends from all over the world thinking of and writing to each other...
Mommy said we are going to the beach again real soon - September is Spring in South Africa - I am looking forward to seeing a bit more sun and a bit more of the beach!
Lotsa love and lotsa licks, Dee xxx
Oh Dee, it's so good to know that you're out there being the inspawrational gal you are! Thanks for the update.
Mom and Dad both know what being busy is like. They're working a lot this summer, and I can't wait until they're done with their assignment here at the ranch.
And WE are proud to have you, and everyone here at Tripawds, to call our friends. Every day you're all on our minds here, all the way in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
Keep on keepin' on girl, we're there with you in spirit!
xoxo
