Hi Jerry, We have a very cool rehabilitation centre for animals - a heated swimming pool where us animals go to strenghten our muscles & recover after major surgery or illness.  My sister, Jay-Li (Pikanese) also went for swimming lessons - she had a major back operation after a MRI scan showed that she hurt her bone marrow.  She had to learn how to use her back legs again - I felt so sorry for her!! She was in real pain before the op!  My back leg is worse today - it is very cold and rainy outside and I dont know if the cold is making it worse.  I yelp when I jump or stretch - it hurts too much!  Going back to the doctor on Friday to have it checked out again... mommy is really worried!!  How is your leg doing Jerry?  Feeling any better??

Hey Dee,

Swimming is the best! You'll have so much fun and your mummy will be quite shocked at how fast you'll be. Send a photo/video. Isn't it absolutely amazing that we have the Tripawds website to help us overcome that feeling of "isolation" ... ?

All love

Thanks for asking Dee! it's frustrating for my people because i'm not about to let them know how much I hurt. I don't whine or yelp, and i still act like I just want to run and play.

've been kept pretty confined for about a week now, going on short leash walks. I still favor my weak knee and lift my leg when we do walk. But tomorrow i'm going for my first ever accupuncture appointment. We'll let you know how it goes.

Hi Jerry - thats exciting about the acupuncture today!  Id love to know how it goes as my mom is thinking of booking me in for a series of acupuncture appointments as well.  Let me know if you get immediate pain relief and if so - for how long.

The accupuncture appointment was interesting. My people believe it helped. Mostly, it was enlightening. The procedure was more about releasing my Chi, opening up my blocked energy field and discovering which supplements are working well for my condition.

I  think I do feel a bit better because of it all. The needles were no big deal, and at one point I ley out a heavy sigh when one went in.

We'll be publishing a post and video in my three-legged dog blog – hopefully soon – so stay tuned.

Hi there! Well, it's been two weeks since my amputation and I am really doing great. My stitches came out yesterday and the Dr took some xrays of my two back legs... looks like I've got a serious case of arthiritis in my right leg and minor in my left leg. (Luckily no ACL Tear!) Mom bought me some joint supplements with MSM and I will be taking them regularly.  I hope this will work, because it is especially painful when it is cold and rainy outside... then I just want to lay in bed the whole day and relax. Mom still has to work out a schedule at work to accommodate my swimming lessons on Thursdays, but I heard that I will be swimming very soon...yeah!! I have been going to the vet 2 x a week for checkups and the people there are soooo nice to me - I get a nice treat every time I leave and they even phone mommy to check how I'm doing!  I think it's all about the "tripawdness" ....hiehiehie

Jerry, I am very excited to see your video on your acupuncture experience - sounds really cool!!

Lotsa love and licks,

Dee

Glad to hear you're doing so well Dee! Maybe the Bella's Hot/Cold Pain Relief Pack we reviewed might help with the arthritis pain ... I also just wrote about how to apply heat to the knee.

As soon as my people catch up on all their movies, we'll be sure to let you know!

Hi Dee...my name is Zeus and I'm 6 weeks out from my amputation...we have the same cancer and it looks like we had the same leg amputated. My mommy found this website and it's her new favorite thing - she loves to find and offer support during this new journey that we're on. I hope that you start to feel better soon...my mommy does acupuncture for herself and LOVES it...swears by it, so hopefully it will help you out. It sounds like a great idea for us dawgs too, so maybe she'll consider trying it out for me too...I'm pretty sure I can get her to try it for me - I just look at her with my big brown eyes and I pretty much have her wrapped around my paw.

Keep me posted on your progress...we're praying for you!

Paws forever ~

Zeus

Howdy all my tripawd pals!  Hope you are all doing as well as I am...  I was sick for a while - the arthritis meds that the VET assured mommy was fine for me to use, wasn't so fine for me to use... I got really sick - my tummy was aching and I had a bad case of diarrea....  So, I had to visit the vet again and she gave me some pills for my aching tummy and new meds for the arhritis.  Well, you know me - the next day I was up and running again!  Things are really going well - I sleep on grandma's bed, chew her bedding, chase the other dogs away (they KNOW I'm the pack leader in the house) and just be my old self... I am glad to hear that you are all doing so well. Mommy is really sad about Lalla's passing away... mommy cried when she told me...  But we know that she is in a better place and that one day we will all be playing and running together in heaven... Lotsa licks and lotsa love, Dee xxx

Hey Dee. Thnaks for the update!

Let us know what that nasty medicine was so none of our other tripawd pals end up getting it and having the same reaction.

Hi Dee - glad to hear that you're doing so well...your mom must be on cloud 9...it can be a little bit of a roller coaster ride, but one surely worth riding.

We were very sad to hear about Lalla...and the others that went to play in heaven - mom was a mess one evening when we were reading and writing on here. Thank you Lalla for staying so much in touch and taking time off from playing with all your new friends - you're doing a great job chanelling through your mom. We really love still hearing from you.

Love your pictures Dee...Mom still have to figure out how to post mine...I'm kinda cute...at least that's what mom tells me.

Don't you just LOVE sleeping on the bed???

Lots of love!

Talk soon ~

Zeus

Hi Zeus, My mommy sends the pics straight to Jerry's email address - under the CONTACT tab - that is how I got my cool pics on the website.  I would love to see your pic!  The meds was Osteo Eze - which is made for humans, but the Vet approved it before mommy gave it to me.  It's got the same ingredients as the pills for dogs (MSM, etc), but somehow, it just didnt work for me...  I made a real big mess in the house and grandma had to clean up after me... I felt so bad!

Monday is a public holiday in South Africa (Youth Day - dedicated to the youths that died in the struggle against Apartheid), mommy is studying for exams, but promised to make a small piece of time available to take me to the beach.. I CANT WAIT!!  (That is, of course, if it is not raining - it's winter in South Africa)

I havent been to the beach in ages!  I will make sure to send you pics of my adventure...

Hoppy thoughts and lotsa licks from me.  Lotsa Love, Dee xxx

Hi Dee...the beach sounds like so much fun - I hope it doesn't rain on you guys and wish your mom good luck on her exams from all of us - when are her tests? It's been really hot and humid here lately (we're in Virginia in the United States)...winter sounds good right about now - ha ha.

Your holiday on Monday sounds like a nice time to remember and reflect. Mom said she'll upload pictures of my over the weekend. Can't wait to see your adventure on the beach!

Have a great weekend - we are so thrilled to hear that you're feeling good (and don't feel badly about messes, they happen and our pawrents love us so much, they really don't mind)

Love ya,

Zeus

Hi All, It was rainy and terrible weather on Monday & Mommy had to study real hard for her exam - learning about Information Systems is not her favourite thing to do!! I am hoping that Sunday will be a nice sunny day so that I can go on my beach adventure...  Keep ya paws crossed!

Hope things are well with you too, Zeus??  I will check on your page for pics!

(Mommy visited the USA in December - California and New York - she just loved the people and the beautiful scenery!  She says that you are lucky to be living in such a beautiful country!)

Lotsa licks and lotsa love, Dee x

Paws are most definitely crossed, Dee. There's nothing better than a day at the beach! Send us some photos, I hear South Africa  is beautiful!

Love,

Jerry
