What is the reason for amputation? That looks like a bad break based on the avatar photo. Poor guy!
Bringing home an animal the same day of surgery is better than leaving them alone in a clinic, but you may lose sleep. Make sure your cat gets the best pain management so he is comfortable OK? The link will take you to articles about pain control. Also, our e-book, Cool Tips for Tripawd Cats , has lots of tips too.
Do you have your home ready with a safe space for his recovery? Are there other cats in the house? Will you have help? Sorry, more questions than answers! But the more we know the more we can help you get through this without losing too much sleep 😉
When he comes home, be sure to update in our Three Legged Cats Topic so our knowledgeable cat members will be sure to see how things are going and chime in.

Found him in the woods on Halloween noticed him limping when we got him home took him to our vet has a break at his growth plate had to find a vet to do the amputation Covid is making money tight but with help from friends we can get it done he’s been on gabapentin twice a day for over a month
Thank you for saving this little kitty💖 What's the name?
We know all this sounds scary. We get it. But once recovery is done and that bum painful leg is gone, you will be amazed at how well kitty adapts to three.
When is the surgery? So the kitty has been on . Gabapentin to help dull the pain while getting things lined up for amputation, right? How has the kitty been doing overall during all this?

OK it's a big day, get some rest! That's awesome he found his way to you, there's a reason for that. He started out with a hard life but now he's going to be living the good one thanks to you.
Sounds like you've got your bases covered. And if he's already on pain management then he shouldn't have any problems adjusting to the post-op ones, although they may make him pretty loopy for a few days. Sometimes pets will be really out of it, anxious, or get vocal but it's usually just the pain meds causing dysphoria. Be sure to get a contact person who you can call if you need help at 3 am (that hardly ever happens, but it's good to be prepared).
Good luck tomorrow and let us know how it goes!

WOW! Talk about a roller coaster ride! So, if I understand this right, he went I for an amputation that this second Vet said he would do. Then from an xray and getting I to the leg, he decided an amputation was necessary???
And what's a nut chop?
So with this means he's not in pain and it's all healed except for a limp???
So glad he's home and is gping to be fi e! Tha ks for taking such good care of him!
Hugs and Merry Christmas to you and Frankenstein!

They said it’s healing up good and strong and shouldn’t bother him and that amputation is a major surgery we will be going for more checkups with our normal vet and them just to make sure just more concerned it wasn’t going to grow but they seem confident he’ll be fine. Fixed is what I meant bye nuts chopped. Will keep you updated
