Tomorrow she gets her bAndage off.

Will this cause temporary increased sensitivity to pain does anyone know ?

My Meg didn't have a bandage post amp, though she did after previous major ops (after her elbow fracture, for example). I certainly didn't notice any increased sensitivity to pain after removing the bandage, perhaps the opposite if anything. I think it was just nice for her to have it off and let the air get to it. After her amp, I did use a t-shirt for about a week or so, just to help keep the area clean and stop her trying to bother the area, though never seemed to try that anyway. In her case, the stitches were internal: there were no stitches or staples visible on the outside, but again, I would have thought that removing the bandage would, if anything, increase comfort levels.

It's a nice sign that things are progressing anyway...

All best,

Hi Doug,

I think my email is having some lag here, sorry for the slow responses. Are sutures coming out too? I know that Huck along with a bunch of others got a great deal of relief when sutures/staples came out. Huck didn't have a bandage either, just staples.

I cannot speak from my own experiences but I don't think the bandage coming off will have any bad repercussions. Only thing I could think of is making sure she doesn't lick at the incision. Even after staples were out we had to watch and make sure the incision stayed safe until the itchy scabs were gone.

Looking forward to hearing about cookies progress.

Really happy to hear you are approaching this big milestone!

Tomorrow she gets her bAndage off.

Not that we have ever heard of. The bandage is a method of protecting the wound from dirt and to keep fluid from pooling up in one place, it's not there to prevent pain in any way. I wouldn't worry about that right now.

Good luck tomorrow!

Hi Jackie,

Today is just the Bandage coming off.  A week from today is the suture removal.  I hope she enjoys the additional freedom of not having that wrapping over her entire mid section.

Thank you for your input Jerry!

I'm going to offer up ICE Cream      Never even offered it before!!  She does like when I scoop out a big piece of no bake cheesecake for her, in fact that has been one of many go to's at times when I need to get her meds down and she has no interest in any food!

She is so smart she always know when I'm just trying to get meds down.  I have had whole process of trying to figure what I can use.

I made meatballs and cut them in half and made them into pill pockets and she liked that a lot. I also get a fat steak and cut it into 1 inch squares and pan fry it and after it cools just insert a pill in each piece and that worked pretty good as well.

I am so glad that we are in day 10 and her appetite is back and the meds are much less of an issue!!  I also need a smaller tee shirt as mine are a little big, so I am going to target tomorrow and get a child's tee shirt and I think that will work really well!

When I put my shoes on Today she knew she was going on a trip with Daddy and I was looking for my wallet and she was almost galloping after me waiting for us to go to the car.  Made me feel real good!
