Vet not overly worried at moment, wants to concentrate on front end first, when stitches come out she will start hydo and she's had an cortisone injection to see if that helps. He said it could be nerve damage from her injury so a lot of rehab for her and make sure she's pain free.

Thank you if I'm honest I'm a little down about it all but I really trust my vet and he wouldn't of done the op if he didn't think she was ok. She must be feeling a little better because her cheeky self is coming back.

You have THE cutest dogs!!! Oh my goodness! ADORABLE!!!!

Ao glad she's being her little "cheeky" self some now! I KNOW recovery part is sooooo hard!!! She is still early in the recovery process. It took me about three weeks with my Happy Hannah before I started to feel like I'd made the "right" decision!!

TRY not to worry. Easier said than done, right? Keep your energy strong and confident a d she will pick up in all that positive energy and it will help her heal.

One thing we are sll big on around here is second opinions! We do that a lot here...sometimes even third opinions! I wouldn't hesitate to have her looked at by a fresh pair of eyes. I know this is crazy, but it could even be an inner ear infection. That could make the balance be off sometimes too.

One more suggestion....we have a thread on the forums called "Ask A Vet". How about posting these videos over there with your questions and back story? The vet who helps us out on the site had a Mastiff who had her leg amputated and she's very knowledgeable on so many levels!

Soooo glad she's feeling better! It's really hard to be latient duringnthis recovery process! AND, almost all of us second guess our decision for the first weekmor two...it's called being human! We all make decions out of love and with guidance from our vets. And that's the best we can do.

Please keep us posted AND PLEASE KEEP THESE ADORABLE PICTURES COMING!! I love how she and her son reunited! I have NO doubt..no doubt at all...that they recognized each other in their own doggy way!

I keep scrolling back up to look at the pictures because they are so cute!

Healing hugs to all!

Aww what an adorable family!

I just now had a chance to catch up on your videos (thank you for sharing!) and what's going on. I think that as long as you are in good contact with your vet and they are offering you multiple rehab options, not just hydro, she will bounce back. Specialist referrals are good if she doesn't meet the vet's expectations in a certain amount of time. Make sure there is a plan in place so that you are ready to go to a specialist if need be. We've seen many dogs here have similar challenges and in time these challenges can definitely be overcome with patience and good vet care.

It seems like a long road, and it might be, but you never know until you go down it and give her a chance to bounce back. Try to put yourself in her paws and think about where you would be right now; probably still in bed, as most of us humans would be. I know I would.

Try to focus on the little achievements every single day and celebrate them. Envision a future that has all of you back to your new normal but don't forget to live in the present and notice all that she's accomplishing now. I know it's hard, we all tend to want to fast forward but sometimes you just have to slow down to get there. We will be here with you every hop of the way.

Your little one is so cute!!! love the videos, can learn so much from these beautiful souls, all they want to do is play, please and love!

I am new to the site myself, my dog (goddi) is on day 15 post-op and I can not express in words how warm and happy it makes me to see him getting around already :D He was a little wobbly like your little one too in the beginning, took at least 5+ days for him to get his balance and figure out his step properly, looks like from the videos from day 2 to 5 she is showing some improvement. I have to agree with many on this site (which has helped me tremendously to prepare for the unexpected) that the first 2 weeks were rough and feel like we hit a milestone today.......finally going for very short walks big-grin Stay positive for your little one and I am sending my positive energy for a very speedy recovery.

YES!!! Look at her go!! I do think this is improvement...slpwly, bit by bit, she seems to be improving!

She IS happy and that just warms my heart! And the video of her "speed running"....definitely shows imlrovement!!

Now, before the surgery, she was walking 100% normally? You mentioned that she was somewhat kept quite three weeks prior to surgery. Was she showing any of these signs at this point?

And on top of all this, Day 9 is STILL early in recovery! I definitely see improvement though.

I just love her! She is so cute!! Soooooo cute!!!

Thanks for the update! Looking forward to more...and more pics!

Hugs to all your pack!

She IS looking better I think!  Stronger.

Keep in mind though that she is still so early in recovery. Don't expect too much right now, she really shouldn't be doing a whole lot of anything other than potty walks. How much free--roaming is she doing? That would be why she is so tired.

P.S. We are in the chat room right now if you want to hop on over. I'll be there for  about another 30 min.

She is only going out to the toilet and maybe walking around 5 min in total a day. The vids are the only time she's walking I'm just filming as much as I can. X

She is looking a bit better but it really still looks to me like she's got something else going on besides just a normal recovery from an amputation surgery.

She seems to be a bit ataxic in her hind end, and looks maybe like she was knuckling over a bit in the front leg as well. Did your vet do a neurological exam on her at all? It could be something like a pinched nerve or something like that. Not trying to scare you or be a Debbie downer. Why was she amputated in the first place?
