Thank you both. It was such a relief last night and this morning to see him eat like a normal dog. I wish I had done this a month ago. Hopefully someone reading this down the line will go right to Entyce. It may not work for them, but it has for Riot so far. I'm hoping it continues. I'm going to ask to stay on it for a while after chemo, as there are no known long term side effects. He gets blood work frequently for chemo and his pain pill anyway. He finally ate enough he was able to have that again. Here's to him getting another dose and eating again tonight.

The only small downside was that he was very lethargic for about two hours after the dose kicked it. I called his oncologist, and that's not uncommon. It also clearly tasted as bad as I was warned. It took a while to get the full dose in him. Once he started feeling a bit better, his appetite got a huge jump start. Fingers crossed he can put on some badly needed weight.

Just wanted to give an update. He's still eating. We did have to take a day off, as he got diarrhea. Now he's back on a lower dose, with his anti diarrheal meds. His next chemo is a week from Wednesday, assuming his counts are good.

Now that's a way to kick off our Saturday, thanks for letting us know.

Sorry about the runny poo. Have you ever tried giving him edible green clay? It works like a charm for the runs, especially for dogs who have GI upset from chemo.

Honestly, we're a long way from his normal. This is a big step in the right direction, though. I'll take it.

I'd never heard of that clay. I'm going to buy some.

Yep. He wags a lot outside. He uses his tail as a rudder now. He adapted.

Yes on his fur. There are a few guard hairs starting to pop through. I hope it's done by winter.

I posted a video of him on another tripod site. They called him chunky, and tried to lecture me on keeping him thin. I explained that he's actually underweight, and I've dedicated every day for the last 3 months trying to have him eat. She just got angry that she was wrong, and deleted her comment.

OMD!!!  CHUNKY????   Little did that person know Riot would wear the moniker "Chunky" like a Badge 9f Honor!!

I have to ask, and it's  okay if you don't want to say, but what "other" tripod site is out there??   Just curious

He's been eating for the last 6 nights thanks to Entyce, so he's a long way off from chunky.

It was the Tripod dogs! Facebook page. It's always been positive and helpful for me before. It was just one bad apple.

It was the Tripod dogs! Facebook page.

Actually, it was the "Tripaws" Three Legged Dogs Facebook Group.

Tripawds does not manage any Facebook group, only the official Tripawds Page. Engagement like you describe is the reason we maintain this community here, and will never have such a group...

Really? I'm pretty sure I didn't post that video on the Tripaws page. Either way, I can understand why you don't have any open source social media page like that. It's much easier to control things in a setting like this. And I very much appreciate all that you do here. I actually thought that the Tripaws page was your group, or was at least affiliated somehow. Good to know it's not.

On a different note, Riot has now eaten dinner 7 nights in a row. His days and nights are screwed up, so he's actually had two or three meals spread out over several hours. That's his longest eating stretch since May 31st.

Riot you are just so handsome!!! And far from chunky, its all that lovely fur thats growing back so well❤

So glad to hear that he's eating again. A step in the right direction, even if its a small one is always a good.

Big hugs and belly rubs for that beautiful boy!

Hugs ❤ Bev, nurse Moe cat, Autumn's Angel Roane & Angel dog Gypsy 🐾

My sweet soulmate Roane was diagnosed with osteo in June of 2019. Had a rear leg amp on July 2nd & crossed the rainbow bridge to be with her sister Gypsy on the first day of Autumn Sept 23 2019.
