I hope the appetite stimulant works.

The only time I've ever had to put weight on one of my dogs was when TriPug Maggie was dealing with renal failure, kidney issues make a dog not want to eat at all.  The only thing that she would eat consistently was Merrick canned food, I can't remember the exact one she liked, I might be able to find it in her records.

She wouldn't eat from a bowl either, I had to puree it and feed her with a syringe but at least I could get some food into her.

Thankfully his kidneys are good.

He ate tonight! It was only half a dinner, but it's a good start.

His appetite stimulant. It was plain kibble. I wish I'd gotten it sooner.

Wow. He ate a lot tonight. At least for him. I hope we can finally get him eating two meals a day. Now fingers crossed his wbc is up from the antibiotics, so he can get chemo Wednesday.

Sorry- I didn't mean to imply that he had kidney issues. I just meant that when Maggie didn't have an appetite she would eat Merrick canned food.

All paws crossed that he keeps eating!

My vet put my little dog on ENTYCE when he wasn't eating. He started eating in 2 days.

As Sally said "fresh pet". All my dogs love the fresh pet that comes in a log.

Hope he starts eating soon!

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

Yes. I bought the Fresh Pet. I haven't had to use it. The pill seems to be working. He's eaten a few meals since last night. I've only needed plain kibble. I'm hopeful he can put some muscle back on.

They're good boys. I'm hoping to see a pound or two gained at his chemo redo on Wednesday.

I just got caught up with this post and am happy to see the stimulant is helping. The only suggestion I had to offer was hand-feeding kibbles. My cat Mona had kidney problems and was losing weight. Since I started hand-feeding many times a day she has just about gained the weight back. The only problem is that she now wakes me up at 2:00 am for a feeding! I oblige of course. smiley5

I hope your dog gains the weight needed to keep him healthy.

Thank you. I would do the same thing if it meant he would eat. For whatever reason, if he is off his food, it doesn't matter how we present it. Eating is still a no go. He ate again last night. Nothing yet from what I've heard, but I'll ask after work. I know he's had a few treats, and calories are calories. I'm probably going to cut up some Fresh Pet tonight, and add a bit to his kibble if he likes it.

Riot has eaten dinner for three nights now. That's the longest stretch in more than a month. I haven't tried the Fresh Pet yet, but I will. Can't have it go to waste. He has his chemo redo tomorrow. Fingers crossed his wbc has gone up enough with the antibiotics that he can get it. He's been in good spirits. I hate taking him to the vet, as it always knocks him back again.
