So beautifully said Reneheart

Even though he hasn't come to you in a dream uet, I think he's doing a bit of "drip, drip" with thise pennies to make sure you're paying attention!  And sitting quietly in spaces where Rocky has been while on his earthly nourney is a way to feel his energy, to feel his presence, to listen to him and to communicate with him. Continue to talk with him.   He hears you.  He sees you. He "speaks" to you, Soul to Soul.

Have any Cicadas made their presence really obvious to you?   Wouldn't it be funny if Rocky used one of them as a way to send you some sort of message!?

Hugs

It was 8 years ago today that I brought Rocky home for good. I still remember it like yesterday.

  • I remember the foster family telling me they had fallen in love with him and would take him back if for some reason it didn't work out with me.
  • I remember taking him to Pet Smart before beginning the drive home to buy him a bunch of toys and goodies.
  • I remember about halfway home (it was a 3.5 hour drive) looking back and seeing him just chilling in the back seat. He really was the most laid back dog ever.
  • I remember making a potty stop and somebody telling me how beautiful he was.
  • And I remember him remembering our house when we finally made it home.

I really wish I could back to that day and just relive our entire time together. It went by sooooo fast.

Rocky had his right front leg amputated on Valentine's Day 2017 after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma.

He joined the September Saints on September 3, 2017.

heartheart Our time with them never seems long enough. If we could just go back and spend a little longer, hug them a little tighter, smell their sweet scent a little while longer.... Rocky has definitely left you with beautiful memories. Continue to cherish each memory! He was blessed to have a dad that loved him so much!

David what sweet memories. Writing them down like this is reliving them in a way. You know, if you believe in the concept of a multiverse, you actually are reliving them right now! Close your eyes and imagine, and you shall! That's the beauty of our imagination.

Something else that can help your heart heal is to focus on visualization & meditation methods for coping with grief. Again, this can help take you back to a happier time and place with Rocky.

Do you have more photos of those good times? We would love to see them!

Lots more photos. I've been going through them the last few days. I bought one of those photo collage picture frames. I'm trying to pick six photos of him to put in it to hang in my living room.

Going through them, I forgot that he wasn't always so picky about his tennis balls. This was a few months after I brought him home. Yup, he's playing with an *orange* tennis ball here. Older, wiser Rocky would be so disappointed with his young self.

Actually ... a day or two after he went to the Bridge, I went to a greenway where we used to walk (we hadn't been there in at least a year). I stepped on a dead cicada at one point. Maybe he left that instead of a penny?

Hi David, It's helpful for me to read your posts as someone who is going through such a recent loss as well. It hasn't even been 4 full days yet since my Chance crossed the bridge. In my head I can still say, "a week ago, Chance did this...".

I feel your pain with you and can nod in agreement with much of the feelings that you write down here. I hope so much that Chancey and Rocky are chasing tennis balls together at the Bridge. heart

Yeah, I'd say Rocky was a little more "David specific" by leaving you that Cicada I stead of a penny!   I'm gonna guess that particular Cicada shed his earthly clothes and headed to the Bridge to be with Rocky!!  At the Bridge, it's all about thr chase and no one gets "killed", even Cicadas!

HA!  That foster family (bless their hearts) didn't have a chance once you two laid eyes on each other!   I love the remembrances of his gotcha' day! 🙂

Don't worry Rocky!!  We know that ORANGE UGLYASS tennis ball was a photo shop!!!

Keep these great memories and photos coming!  We really enjoy them.

Love and hugs

CHANCEY PANTS AND ROCKY ARE DEFINITELY FROLICKING TOGETHER AND SHOWING THE OTHERS HOW TO CHASE BALLS COCKER SPANIEL STYLE! 🙂

It seems like our pups like to head to the Bridge in packs. The silver lining is we get to share our grief here with others who completely understand.

Reading about Chance and Toddy and others has helped me as well. And yes, I like to think they're joyously chasing after those grungy tennis balls together.

One of Rocky's favorite spots was the tile in front of my fireplace. I think it was cooler there than the carpet. I've been lazy/haven't wanted to clean. I knew there was some dirt and grass there that Rocky had brought in. But I looked tonight and found something else ...

Most people find pennies. I got a cicada wing. Just the wing.

Yeah, when my Happy Hannah headed to the Bridge, it was also with a group of friends she had the privilege of making while on  her earthly journey.  At first it was called "Awful April" because so many.  Some sweet Soul quickly changed it to "April's Angels"....a LOVELY way to honor them.

Maybe September Saints for Rocky and crew?

Yes I love September Saints! heart

Chance has an outdoor couch... the last place we sat with him before the vet arrived. He was watching flies and every once in awhile would snap at one and try in vain to catch it. The other day I found a dead fly on his couch.  smiley
