Karen ......There has been a lot of loss around here lately so the closed door thing is understandable.
Ladies, thank you all so much. Your words just uplift me so much. Like Sally & Happy Hannah, I don't ever want Libby to be forgotten. Shoot...here come the tears. *sniff*
Alison & Lori, that's exactly how I feel about another dog right now. I think maybe if I got another breed I wouldn't compare, but still at this point any dog would be an attempt at a replacement and that's not possible. I think for all of us that eventually want another, we will know when we find him or her. Wow..800 pics?! I love it
For those who would like to make a video I used Windows Live Movie Maker. If you have Windows you should have the program.
Love and Hugs,
Amy & Spirit Libby
Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
Amy, (and Lori and Alison),
Another dog never replaces the one we have lost. That's impossible. Each dog is so unique in personality. And you can never replace the love you had for each dog. But another dog does give you joy, and helps to fill the void. I think it honors the memory of your beloved baby and friend to give another dog a loving home and a wonderful life. When and if you are ready, any dog that is lucky enough to have a home with you will have the best life ever!
With love,
Carol
Thank you, Carol. I know we will have a 2nd dog at some point in our future. So many need homes. At the moment it just doesn't seem I have room in my heart but I'll get there.
Hugs and Love to You,
Amy & Spirit Libby

We all know Libby won't be replaced. Ever. None of ours can be. In time you and Bret will know when it's right, if ever, and what that lucky pup will be - rescue, pure breed, lab, or some Heinz mix.

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
Amy,
I'm a little late to the party because I had to wait until I wasn't at work to watch your tribute. It is beautiful and so is Libby. Getting another dog is a hard decision. I finally got a Weim puppy about a month ago. It's been about a year since Maggie died. And he is nothing like Maggie but I didn't expect he would. I actually tried to get a rescue Weim but the restrictions were ridiculous. So we got crazy Hank. I have another rescue Weim and I wanted her to have a friend. She is slowly warming up to him. You will come upon a time when you will open your heart to another dog, you two have too much love to share not to get another dog.

Thanks, ladies. It's all a process and we are trudging through it. We talk a lot about getting another but we both are on the same page about not being quite ready. Libby dominated so much we think we need to spend some time putting Sammie first for awhile.

When Maggie passed I still had her younger sis Tani at home and she was quite lost, she had never been an only dog. I adopted Obie just 5 weeks after Mag crossed over, it seemed right. Maggie will forever be my heart dog, I can't imagine that any dog bond I form will ever be the same as Mag and me. I love Tani and Obie for who the are, and that is enough.
Obie is another black pug, and I'm sure some thought I was trying to replace Mag. But I got a black pug to honor my uncle's memory ( Mag and Tani came from him) and I got a rescue with issues because Maggie taught me that I like a challenge!
I believe when the time is right your next pup or kitty will find its way into your life.

Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.

Oh, what a wonderful, beautiful video! I understand how much you miss her. The love we feel for our dogs and other animals are sooo big. Libby will always be in your heart! (The mom to my lab Wilbur also has birthday 21st of April. Her name is Wilma and she is 12 years now.) Sending love and hugs!
