Happy birthday, Libby!  We want you to know we think about you often and miss you terribly.  Really bad.

Amy: this was lovely!  Such a marvelous tribute!  I bet it was hard to do.  And also really fulfilling?  Her personality came through!  I love the photo of her little tongue almost sticking out, as to say "ne-ner-ne-ner!"  I loved the photos of her with Bret, too.  Boy, they sure had a bond!  A really tight one.  I love your memories - her relishing in her momma's watchful eye as she sunbathed.  He chasing her squeeky toy all over the place and into the pool.  This was great.  Just great!

And I'm a sobering mess.  I hate cancer.  Oh, Libby was just perfect.  Perfect.  She had one hell of a life!  I mean it seems like you guys got that pool just for her!  And her special walks with daddy?  Heaven.  She was in heaven before!  Now, well, now she's breathing deeply and chasing all those tennis balls and squeekers she can find.

I cherish your girl and miss her a lot.  I still ache.

Thanks for sharing this very special video of your lady.  She's perfect.  Perfect.

~ Katy & Jackson

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

Thank you ladies.  Elizabeth, I just had to include that rainbow picture.  When I took it last summer I just knew it was something I was going to share with everybody one day.

Joan, thanks so much for your kind words.  She was totally perfect in our eyes. She will never be forgotten or replaced.  She was one of a kind.

Oh was it ever difficult, Katy.  I knew I wanted to get it finished by her birthday and I also knew I needed my son's help. He still wasn't fully ready to do it (neither was I) but he knew it meant a lot to me to share this with the Tripawd family on Libby's birthday.  You're right though, it was also very satisfying.  I have volumes of pictures of her through the years and lots more stories so it was also hard to narrow it to only a few minutes.  Thank you for loving her. :)

Hugs,

Amy & Spirit Libby

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Oh sweet Libby, Happy, Happy Birthday you amazing girl. Our angel doggies had a great pawty today I'm sure.

Amy the photos and video are so so sweet, thanks for finding the strength to put it together. I loved the way you showed her entire life in such great photos, especially of her looking out the car window, snoozin with Bret, in the snow, in the water, everywhere. How cool you captured so many perfect moments.  Thank you for sharing them all with us, I feel like I know your pack even better now.

Many hugs coming your way on this big milestone, I know it's not easy to experience them.

We miss you Libby.

What a beautiful post and video Amy. Thank you for sharing more of Libby. I love the gray muzzle and eyebrows.

I read the title of the post this morning at work and knew I needed to wait until I got home to read it. I've spent much to much time at work lately with my door closed!

What an amazing tribute, Amy. (And as always, I'm glad I don't read posts at work!) Love, love, love the photos and the music, and how it captures her personality so well. I felt like I knew her your family after reading and watching.

I'm sure there was a big pool party with frosty paws for Libby with her Tripawd friends. Thanks for sharing your girl with us.

Hugs,
Deb and Lexie

Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.

Amy,
It's a beautiful tribute to Libby. It shows who is she was and what a special girl she was. Your right in that they are with us for a short time, but in all your photos and video you show how you both valued every minute of her life with you. She was a lucky and so were you both to have each other. Her spirit will live on in all our hearts here.

All you ladies are just melting my heart with your words of love for our Libby.

Claudia, I would love to do more.  Am I the only one who has more pictures of their dogs than their kids? Shhh.....

Carol, she was truly one of a kind.  We want to get another (I can't believe I'm saying that) but at this point I'm afraid we would be trying to find a replacement and that's just not possible. :)

Deb, if Libby has her way there absolutely will be a pool party at the Bridge! :) And she usually gets her way.

Thank you, Esther, we just treated her like one of the family because that's what she was.  All of us who are animal lovers understands how much they become one of us.

Oh Christine, lol...23 seconds.  I had to mute the music A LOT while putting it together.  I can't believe her banner popped up again!!!  I'm so thrilled!  Thanks for telling me.  Good girl Libs, indeed.

Oh Amy, I know what you mean. I also want another Lab, but I think I would also just be trying to replace the unreplacable. TY had such a cool personality, that I am not sure I will ever find that again. My husband says no more. I still have 2 other dogs. Long story how we wound up with 3 to start with. 23 seconds?? I think I made it about 15. Lori & Angeldog TY

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

Amy and Lori,

I just wanted to weigh in on this too ... I've only had mixed (aka mutts) so I can't really go out and get another dog the same breed as Shelby. We guessed on her breeds and are pretty sure she was part shiba inu and jack russell terrier. So when I was looking on Petfinder just to see, I found myself drawn to dogs that looked exactly like Shelby but sadly, there isn't another Shelby and right now, I would be so disappointed to have a new fur-baby that didn't have the same traits, mannerisms or bond that I had with my girl. Some days I am convinced I will love again and own another pet but most days, I find that ridiculously hard to even comprehend... Shelby had SUCH a unique personality with so many lovely quirks... I find it very hard ever think there will ever been another dog that comes even close to giving me that kind of run for my money...

I am pulling Shelby's photos into one file and trying to organize them... and to say I have a ton of photos of that dog is an understatement. Where I may not have a ton from her as a baby or our time in New Orleans, I have our entire 7 years in Los Angeles very well documented (especially after I got a smart phone). Last count was over 800! I am indeed that parent!

Hugs to you all....

Alison and my Shelby fur-ever in my heart

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
