Thank you everyone.. I told my friends here they might have had to bail me out of jail since I wanted to punch the guy!

I know in my heart and soul that I was a good mom and did all I could for Shelby to keep her safe every day of her 13 1/2 years on this earth. And most important - I know Shelby knew that too!!!

I ran by the beach again this a.m. - I am determined to OWN that beach again. I did cry (as to be expected )but not as violent as last week. I asked Shelby to send me some strength and she did. I got a decent 9 miles in... I don't 'love' running anymore and I can't figure that out. I think it's too much time in my head. Running was my passion - not something I even did w/Shelby so I don't get it. I do love spinning more now and I think that is because all I have to do is pedal and go through the motions... someone else does the work (as in playing the music, telling us what to do and when). Running is also (for me) solitary - I don't like to run w/other people and at a spin class, I am with my friends and a little more chipper.

Going to be another wicked hot day here at the beach and I am going to try my VERY best to make this a good day! I want to work on Shelby's album(s) and her video so I can have that for June which will be the one year anniversary of when our entire life changed when she broke her leg ... lots of anniversaries yet to come. I picked a horrible time to go on a alcohol-free detox!

XOXO ... I love you all! Maybe I'll even go look at the puppies at petco since I think I need to feel the fur between my fingers but not yet here in my home again. And I am going to bring Shelby's leftover kibble to a lady at my gym who will give to a lady who's homeless and has a dog. Shelby would want that!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Great way to start taking those baby steps, Alison. A little bit at a time, each step as you feel ready for it.

Kathi and Murphy

PS. Have fun petting those puppies. They will be grateful for each and every snuggle they get.

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

WAIT!! Did you just say 'ALCOHOL FREE"? Okay! Time for an intervention here!! At lesst ease the withdrawal with an infusion of chocolate!

As HAPPY HANNAH would say..."I'd give up chocolate (in our case, wine), but I'm no quitter!"

Okay, alcohol is a depressant so it really is a good idea to pass on it for now.

I love how you are ho oring Shelby by passing on her kibble to another dog. (She's probably chucking though because, if I recall, sne never liked her kibble anyway!)

And going to see puppies...great!! You'll know when it's right Alison...you'll be guided by Shelby...you will. Living n your own with no dogs...very, very hard and very empty. Just take your time and' again, it'll happen when it's right. And, if you're like Michelle...it'll be double grouble!!

Hugs and love!!

Sally and Happy Hannan

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Epic fail at puppy petting!!! None of them were Shelby. :-( But I knew that. They were all cute and cuddly but they barked, and they smelled different and I couldn't hold them in my arms the way I did with my girl. Bittersweet. It just means I am not ready. Not that I was going to adopt a dog today - no way would I be ready for that but I thought I would feel a bit more empathy toward them but I really felt numb. The rescue place totally got it when I said I had just lost my best friend - they asked if I wanted to foster and I would if I had time but I don't. So short of being the creepy lurker lady, I'm going to have to start hanging out w/my friends dogs so I don't become the creepy, lurker lady!

BUT I did do something productive today - I took some photos of Shelby and her ceramic paw print to have them framed together - my house is quickly becoming a "Shelby" shrine... it will be beautiful when it's done. Someone saw me printing the photos and asked me if it was my dog and what her name 'is' and I had to say 'was'....

I got my beautiful necklace that Rene did for me in the mail today that I wear close to my heart - my flying angel always with me.

I am trying to find the beauty in the day ... it's hard but Shelby is definitely on it and pushing me through ... thank you to my little angel ... I have only cried once today! 🙂

Oh I have the flying Angel necklace also. It is a comfort to wear next to my heart.I also kept the bag it came in and that is where. I keep my pennies. I found like 12 the day Ty left. In strange places. A few more in the days following. None lately though. I have thought about going to our local animal shelter to volunteer , but probably not a great idea. I love the idea of framing the paw print and the picture. You will have to post a picture when it is done. I made a paw print myself ,it isn't pretty but it is his. He was not happy about getting it done. I did it when I thought the MRSA was taking him. Great idea to donate her kibble to the homeless lady. I agree, Shelby would like that. I agree with Sally, when the time is right, Shelby will bring another fur baby into your life. It will probably take you completely by surprise. Take your time, it is still so fresh. Love from, Lori and Ty Guy

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
