This is Jennings right before I took him to the Vet the night after the accident. (correction: the morning after)
On the ride home from the Vet!
In an old t-shirt! I need to find someone who can sew the sleeve….I tried it on one and I suck at it!
Thanks for looking! I hope I did it right! I haven't had time to get on in a couple of days between the girls' softball games and my son's jr high orientation we haven't gotten home till late every evening. Tonight is the first evening I've had free. I'm so thankful that my brother and mom are here during the daytime and they make sure Jennings has his meds and my brother sits in the family room with him all day till I get home! He is one spoiled little guy! I can't believe how much he's wrapped my mom around his paw! He could get away with just about anything! LOL! She keeps asking me, "does he ever bark?" I said "only when he's not getting his way!" LOL! He's had a good couple of days. Every evening when we get home, he gets so excited to see us! Last night my son was sitting at the coffee table playing with some of his Bakugan figurines and Jennings sat right beside him and watched what he was doing. They sat like that for a long time…it was so cute! We bought him a toy on Friday (the day after his surgery) and the first few days he would pick it up in his mouth like he wanted to play but then realized he wasn't quite sure how or was too tired. But Monday night, he was like his normal self….he tried his darndest to tear that squeaker out…and he finally figured out how to hold it down with just one paw!! Then he'd do like he used to when he wanted to play…he'd take it to one of the kids and bark to try to get them to throw it for him. I wouldn't let them throw it because I wanted him to settle down and not be rowdy!
Thanks again for all of the advice and support! I hope to be able to spend more time on here soon so that I can read about and get to know everyone better!

Thanks, Kydog! We feel so lucky that it wasn't much worse! I feared it was much worse than it was! That night when I slept on the floor with him there was a couple of times when his breathing would be so heavy and watery and I thought "ok this is it! He's not going to make it!" I wasn't sure if there were internal injuries and I layed there with his head on my arm and cried like a baby! I know now that it was probably just the pain he was in that was causing the heavy panting...but it sure scared me to death!
And I just noticed the caption next to my first pic should say the MORNING after his accident...not the evening after! I promise I did not make him lay in pain until the next evening! I called into work that morning and went in after I got done at the vet! It was even a payroll week (I do payroll for our facility) and I never miss during that time! He and my kids come first and thankfully my boss didn't give me any trouble and in their daily meeting they actually put him in their prayer that they say at the beginning of the meeting. And when I got to work I was stopped in the hall many times by co-workers asking if he was ok!
Sorry...there I go rambling again! It's a bad habit! I can't keep it short and sweet! LOL!

What a fine looking lad he is! It's obvious he is so loved and that puts a giant smile on my face! It's so nice that your work has been understanding.
I think there are several of us that has lain next to our pups during the crucial recovery time and cried our eyes out scared out of our minds! I know I've sat up all night on every surgery Comet has had and listened to her cry. She opens her mouth wide open and sticks her tongue out and cries – it sounds like a baby! My mom was here once after a Comet knee surgery and she couldn't hold back the tears! To this day, she says that was the saddest thing she had ever seen!
I chuckled at your correction of "morning after" – we didn't think you'd make him strike a pose while suffering! So I added it in for you on your post!
Don't apologize for rambling! We like ramblers! That makes you one of us! You should see what we write! I just posted a Devo music video from the 80's!!! And I for one, am not going to start apologizing!

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

handsome man you are!! glad to hear jennings is recovering nicely. the first few nights do tend to age pawrents i think, but it's amazing how soon they get better, and how soon the anxiety fades in our minds. thanks for the great pictures!!

Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
Wonderful photos. Thank you for posting them. Jennings looks like he's going to do just fine as a Tripawd. Once the healing is over, look out! You'll be playing fetch in the yard with him all the time. Keep us posted on how he's doing.
