We are a morning family here at Casa Shelby ...I am always up (sometimes not by choice) between 4:37 and 5:30. Jasper SPRINGS up like a pogo stick when the alarm goes off and starts her morning yoddle. No snooze button here ... when the alarm goes up - she is up!
Shelby used to be that way but in her senior years, she could take it or leave it with the early mornings. She was a good sport in general about my desire/need to get up that early.
I do know .. on the rare occasion I sleep past dawn.... I have always felt little dog eyes staring at me (like I have heard that cats do) to wake up me. My girls also always put themselves to bed early. Shelby would put herself to bed around 9ish and sometimes pop out to see if I was coming ...
Jasper just puts herself to bed at 830 - never looks for me just does her own thing. But her rescue said she used to do that so I guess it makes sense she's ready to hit the ground running before the sun comes up!
And I think Milo has earned the right to be a bit a 'cranky old man' in the mornings... he is, afterall, a senior, right?! XOXO

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
4:30 every morning around here. And they don't recognize weekends or holidays . . .
Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

That is funny, I have the exact same snowflake blanket! I was thinking in my mind that he was a Tripawd. He looks so sweet! My guys, and girl sleep pretty well in the AM. As a matter of fact, if I go to get Lucille McGillicuddy ( yep) she has a middle name, up before about 7:30, I get the stink eye. As I said before, on Facebook, this little guy has hit the jackpot! Lori, Ty & Gang
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
You know who else has that blanket? Sally! Ha. Milo is a great little dog. He is so happy and he loves to cuddle. One of the people at the shelter asked me a couple times if I was sure I wanted him. He said "he's one of the most undesirable dogs here". I was even unsure myself because he had quite the little attitude at the shelter. No one there could handle him at all. He's not even the same dog anymore. He get's so excited and will run up to you and throw his head into you and sit there waiting for you to pet him. 🙂 I'm so glad we got him because he would have been euthanized, and he's such a great little dog! I even sent the shelter lady some pictures of him now, so they'd remember that you can't judge a dog by the way he acts in there.
Alison, Tanner does the same thing. He just goes and puts himself in bed around 8pm. Haha!

GREAT tagline you sent to the shelter with Milo's picture!! Undesirable???? And Ollie got a bad boy label too! Getting piffed off over here! To try and "assess" a dog in a shelter environment is ludicrous! Can't remember which tv show it was but they would "assess" a dog a d label him unadoptable based on ridiculous "tests". Like brining in a dog who clearly was starving and afraid, ot to me tion smeeli g death all around him in this KILL "shelter" and, if he growled when they tried to take food away from him,, he was labeled aggressive and that was the end for him.
Wait! Pictures...did you just say pictures?? Yiu sent "them" a licture but didn't post any here tonight??? You still have time!!!!
I'm sooo happy to hear how he has "transformed" I to the dog he was meant to be. Love and security can work miracles! We've all said it and we all mean it...there could be no better home than yours for Milo Napoleon!
Watching for pictures....oh...and video too!!
LOVE!!!
PS...I'm ga ga over the fact that we all three have snowflake blankets....can you say U N I V E R S E!!?
I love Lucy's middle name! I'm still toying around with Frankie's after all this time....throwing around Frankie Huckleberry, Frankiestein (because he can be a very naughty little boy sometimes), Frankie Lee.....etc.
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
So Jasper needs that binky apparently! LOL
I LOVE Lucy's proper name ... OMG .. it definitely suits here!!!
There was an adorable photo on the FB, Sally! 🙂
I can't believe people can label dogs anything when they are in the shelter. How did he even end up there at that age? He must have lived in a home... was he surrendered? Or lost and never claimed? That would make me mighty cranky too! Shelby was a shelter pup that didn't have labels ... I just knew she was small and cute and would snapped up.
And Jasper's "labels" from her foster ... sweet, kind, submissive and quiet. They got almost all that right! Jasper found her voice with me! The rescue was surprised to learn she was a barker!
But I recall - it took about a week to see the "True" Jasper and I can imagine that change causes a dog to be cautious! I am so glad you guys took a chance on Milo! Rosco and Jake's true legacies living on ... XO

What was I thinking not posting pictures and videos?!!
Alison, all we know is that he was picked up by animal control wandering around a set of housing projects, in a pretty nasty part of town. They held him on a 13 day stray hold and no one claimed him. It took a couple days to get him to start trusting us but boy oh boy has he made a total turn around. He climbed onto my lap for the first time tonight. I think he belonged to someone before, but he's so starved for attention that I doubt he got any.

What is "it" with you and Eric? THE cutest dogs are always trying to adopt you two! And, so far, at least four of them have been successful..so far!!
Little Milo (er...I mean BIG Milo Napolean) is really stylin' Roscoe's Royal Carriage! And the "portrait" of Tanner with Conehead looking like he's photo bombing the picture...PRECIOUS!! Or maybe Tanner is photobombing Milo's picture!
And that video! All together now.....Awwwwww!!! That tail is going a mike a minute! He's so happy!! And he squeaks in a little puppy voice! You are not going to be able to NOT spoil this cutie! I hope you gave him some of whatever you were eating or, better yet, the whole bag!
THANK YOU ELIZABETH! We all need the smiles! I know Milo needed you...and you needed Milo!
Love to the whole pack!!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
PS...What did the Admin Guy do to your "signature photos"? Looks like he cut the bottom half off. Computer geniuses should never have scissors.

OMG ... the cuteness!!! I hope he got whatever was in that bag!!! LOL
Yup ... probably starved for attention and a bit untrusting ... Jasper was in a hoarding situation so to have her OWN space and her OWN human ... it took her a while to get used to it. But boy oh boy has she embraced it and Milo looks very well adjusted!!! He's so stinkin' cute with those EARS!!! That first one - up on the couch - total JL pose! LOVE him!!!

The pic of him wearing the cone of shame in the stroller is just priceless!
I agree, the dogs who need love the most just know the right path to your pack.

I love those! And do we have a miniature Turbotail??? Too cute.
I agree that these dogs are just waiting for someone who can bring them out of their shell and let them be their true selves. I read somewhere that the majority of shelter dogs are not abused, but are neglected. I can sure see that in Ollie. He just wants all the attention and affection that anyone will give him. He never meets anyone he doesn't like.
BTW, Sally, Ollie now has a middle name....BOB! As In Ollie Bob. That came from calling him Bouncing Bob when he sees me put on my shoes and reach for the leash. He jumps so high that he almost reaches my head. He doesn't jump on anyone, just bounces up and down in front of them. I will try to get Garry to take a video.
Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork.
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
This is what happened when the cone came off today! Well, isn't that quite the video frame LOL. There was a lot of that going on too, I'm sure he was wondering where they went but I promise the video is not of that! haha

LOL!!! He's looking for his boy bits!!!! That's hilarious... and Tanner seems spooked or intimidated by him? I love it!!! So cute and feisty... I love him!!!

Is he happy to be out of that cone or what? Sheer joy!!! Such a feisty fella' I'm just loving me some Milo Napoleon!!
And Tanner, cute sweet Tanner, you get the "Best Brother Award"! You are such a good boy! I do think Milo will be trying to boss you around a little bit...just a guess.
Rosco and Jake sure sent you a great distraction! I know it feels good to have some joy seep back in as you watch these two.
Keep these videos coming...they make us all smile!!!!
Lotta love to all!
